After reading some postings on this thread: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8389, I thought it a good time to point out that there is a description on our CDS website here: https://cdsdemocracy.org/the-representative-assembly/on the duties of the LRA. And specifically with regards to committees there is this wording:
Committees
The LRA can create (or propose for creation) committees of members for the purpose of study and information gathering on proposed topics (bills, agenda items of all sorts). Committees will be formed of volunteers, and the LRA will make efforts to ensure that committees contain a balanced range of faction members and positions.
Committee members can be non-members of the RA. Each topic that a committee receives for attention must be brought back to the RA for action, even if the recommendation is to drop it.
Of course we no longer have 'factions' forming government in the CDS. I guess this is another area (RA Rules of Procedure) should be reviewed and updated to reflect that change.
