Lowered land prices

Post by Sylvia Tamalyn »

I don't recall if all of our regions are grandfathered, but if they are not, then this should be good news for CDS.

If I'm reading the CDS Master Parcel list correctly, I don't think this will really help us out much at all.

Not that that is a bad thing -from where I'm sitting it means we're getting by on less of a razor's edge financially than other spots are. And I'd think that means our long-term outlook is probably more stable.

You're reading it correctly. As noted in the announcement, this new policy does not affect "grandfathered" regions and "bought-down" regions. All of our sims are in one of those categories, and we are paying a good deal less than the newly announced rates. So this has no benefit for us.

Interesting though. As also noted in that announcement, they are increasing the cost of buying L$s... thereby shifting the revenue burden from estate owners over to normal consumers. Perhaps that's an indication that they feel the need to boost the private region ownership economy, even at the risk of dampening consumer spending, since the vast majority of residents can get cash only by buying it from LL.

I've heard for years that fashionistas are one of (if not the) largest spending demographic in SL. Not being one, I'm not sure if it's true but it makes sense since they'll often buy an outfit/skin/whatever and only wear it once. Maybe they figure that market is robust enough to be able to take the hit.
