Monastary

Post by Ranma Tardis »

I have taken over Monastery and first I want it known Arria Perreault is still part of the project. She can do as little or as much as she desires.

I would like to have a meeting of all interested people. I have started a new job in real life. I was just too young to retire. I am free for meetings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

My only real change is to the sanctuary to make it conform to the Church of Peter. I need help to make the cross and other signs of worship.

Pleas leave a reply if you are interested in lending a hand.

That's great, Ranma!

Can you please clarify for me what the 'Church of Peter' is? Is it Anglican or is it Catholic? When I google it, I get both results.

I'm uncomfortable with aligning our structures with any specific denomination.

I'm down with a generic "Christian" theme; but not with a specific Christian sect such as Catholicism, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox (tho they have some awesome churches) or Protestantism.

Simply put, by choosing one you exclude the others.

But it's not my project, so y'all have fun with that. 8)

I'd be willing to make a cross of some sort, based on an anglican/episcopal[1] design.

This is what I've found after a quick google

This is my favorite design, altho it's Presbyterian:

This is also awesome, but way above my building skills:

Were I to do one, it would probably be one modelled after this patch, because it's the only one I can see myself even coming close to getting right (though it would still be flawed):

[1]The American Episcopal church tends to be very progressive and embraces the LGBT community, which is a large part of the reason for that being my first choice. Of course going for any choice falls into the same quandary I pointed out in my previous post ...if you pick one, you exclude the others.

As the monastery is not community owned I am fine with whatever Ranma wants to put there.
Same as I would be fine with any kind of Pagan temple, mosque, synagoge or whatever :)

It is the Catholic church since my understanding is it is the church of this monastery. Though Anglican/Episcopal would work as well.

Would like a cross with Jesus on it as I think this is the proper type for monastery. The Episcopal services have use this as well as the Catholic churches.

All are welcome at monastery. To me Jesus stands for Love, redemption and charity.

Whatever you want works -as Lilith pointed out. :)

I personally favor Episcopalian both for their tolerance and also the fact they're where I go to church at IRL (when I go, which isn't that often).
