Casper Migration March 4th and 5th 2017

Post by Tor Karlsvalt »

The time has come to begin the migration to Casper and retire the Hippo system. During the weekend of March 4th and 5th Rudeen will install Casper tier boxes in place of the Hippo tier boxes. Although Rudeen thinks this can be done in one weekend, we may have to extend the migration over more than the two days.

The migration will almost be unnoticeable to you. The tire boxes will be the same. Most of you might only notice that the messages from the tier boxes will be different.

Over the past several weeks we have had two parcels set to Casper. This helps us get a bit more acquainted with the system from the administrative viewpoint. However, much will be learned as the tier administrators work with the new system.

The migration to Casper will not change any of our policies regarding tier collection and the sale of land.
There will be several changes however.

  • First, Casper will not allow people to take refunds for unused tier from the tier box. Refunds must be requested. A tier administrator will have to trigger the refund.

  • Second, anyone can pay your box. You will not need to have a designated tier partner.

Hippo has served us well during the last few years, but the program is no longer supported. Worse still, it is impossible to add new administrators to the Hippo account. This and the prospect of serious failure of the Hippo system necessitates a move to another tier collection system. Casper is widely used and probably already familiar to many of you.

Direct any questions to either myself or Rosie Gray or Sudane Erato.

Thank you for patience and cooperation.

Tor Karlsvalt.
