For those new to our voting system, we use Single Transferrable Vote (STV). You can find information on this system here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote
or view a video about it here:

To vote:

Touch the polling station and follow the directions; you will be given a password and an URL to the voting site. Open the site in your browser and enter your SL user name (not display names!) and your password.

Drag and drop the names of your preferred RA candidates from the left side to the right, and check that they are in the ranked order you want - 1 being first choice of candidate, 2 being second choice and so on. You may rank as many or as few candidates as you wish.

Make your choice for Chancellor and Referendum question, and then submit your ballot.

If you have difficulty voting, first check that you are on the official Citizen List submitted to Jon for the polls. You can find the list here :
http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4440

No challenges to this list were received so it is the official list submitted to Jon.

If you are on that list and having problems, contact Callipygian Christensen by notecard or by e-mail at [email protected]. Do not trust SL to deliver offline IMs.

If you are not on that list, you are ineligible to vote. You can contact Callipygian Christensen by notecard if you have any questions related to ineligibility.

People often say that, in a democracy, decisions are made by a majority of the people. Of course, that is not true. Decisions are made by a majority of those who make themselves heard and who vote -- a very different thing.
