Error in Referendum results

Post by Callipygian »

I received this correction from Jon this morning.

Re: Referendum results

Very sorry about this -- I had forgotten some of the convolutions of the program and had to go over my old source code. Referendums were added to the program at the request of the RA after it had been in use for a couple of cycles, and as a result I never did finish the tally process.

65 citizens voted, 21 did not.
Of the 65 who voted, on the referendum:

48 voted yes
8 voted no
9 abstained

The numbers are the same, I just misinterpreted the 8.

People often say that, in a democracy, decisions are made by a majority of the people. Of course, that is not true. Decisions are made by a majority of those who make themselves heard and who vote -- a very different thing.
