Code of Procedure issued: proceedings may now be commenced

Post by Ashcroft Burnham »

I have now finished the very first draft of our code of procedure[/url:28eeh01s]. I am issuing it now, so that people do not have to wait any longer before they bring their cases. It is in an early format, and some parts of it may have to be revised.

Please note that, although the Code as I have written it purports to refer to proceedings in the Court of Scientific Council, the Dean of the Scientific Council has not yet had a chance to look over the code and approve it for use there, so, at present, those parts are not in force.

I imagine that there will be many parts of the Code that will need to be refined in practice, but it is better to have a rough code now than no code at all. A public consulation on refining the code is here[/url:28eeh01s].

Please note that, as we currently have only one judge, all cases will initially be allocated to me, but some cases will be reallocated to other judges when they are appointed. If the Chair of the Judiciary Commission increases the quota of courts from 1 to 2, then procedure for common appeals will be added, and cases may well be transferred out of the High Court into the new, inferior court.
