Call for volunteers for the MoCA and the LUC

Post by Almut Brunswick »

Dear fellow CDS citizens,

The Representative Assembly of the 35th term invites you to volunteer for these two roles:

MoCA Curator

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in the center of Neufreistadt has a long tradition in the CDS as a cultural benchmark. It is a venue for all who are interested in fine arts and other cultural projects in and outside the CDS. To care for this beautiful place means to organize exhibitions, openings and other cultural events, to manage public relation matters and to keep in touch with the CDS Government for coordinating and sponsoring activities.

If you are interested in the arts and culture, and you enjoy organizing events, then this is the job for you! CDS needs you to apply as MoCA Curator.

RA Citizen Delegates for the Land Use Committee (LUC)

The LUC serves as the advising and proposing organization for all matters of building projects and related topics. Its voice is heard and its advice considered by the Chancellor and the Representatives.

It is an honor for the RA to appoint two CDS citizens in good standing to the LUC.

If you are a person who loves to develop ideas in collaboration with other creative people in the CDS, then you are the right person for this role.

Please contact Rosie Gray or me for submitting your application or if you have any further questions.

Please note: The deadline for the applications is Saturday, June 26, 2021, 12 PM SLT.

Thank you!

Almut Brunswick,
Leader of the Representative Assembly

Dear fellow CDS citizen,

I can proudly update the call for volunteers with the good news that we currently have received three applications:

  • MoCA Curator: Kyoko Furse-Barzane

  • LUC RA Citizen Delegates: Delia Lake and Laura Azalee

Thank you, dear Kyoko, Delia and Laura, for your willingness to serve the community in the namely institutions!

However, the possibility to send Rosie Gray or me your application still remains open till today, 12 PM SLT.

Afterwards, the RA will decide and confirm the appointments as soon as possible to get your work started.

Thank you!

Almut Brunswick,
Leader of the Representative Assembly

Call for volunteers for the MoCA

Dear fellow CDS citizens and friends,

I need to announce with deep regrets that our Chancellor and long-time MoCA Curator Kyoko has decided to withdraw her application for continuing her precious work as curator, so we need to find a successor for this role as soon as possible.

Please submit your application as NC to Rosie or me when you are interested to serve the CDS in this important function.

Thank you!

Almut

Dear fellow CDS citizens and friends,

unfortunately, today Laura Azalee has also declared her resignation as RA citizens' delegate to the LUC, so that we have another vacant role to fill in. Please submit me your application if you want to volunteer in this role. Thank you!

Just to elaborate a bit on the MoCA Curator. It is a great privilege for anyone to become the MoCA Curator, and that person should have some skills and background related to the curation of an art museum. Here is the law that describes the Curator position:

CDSl 31-1 MoCA Curator Appointment

The Museum of Modern Art (MoCA) located within the walls of Neufreistadt city is a part of the common lands of the CDS. As a part of CDS community-owned properties, the intent of this law is to allow for diversification in its curation and ensure that the MoCA remains a vibrant part of the life of the community.

1) The Representative Assembly will accept applications for a curator from any citizen in good standing and appoint 1 person for each appointment time period.
2) Appointments will be for a time period of 6 months: either August to January or February to July.
3) Applicants must provide a brief outline of their intended exhibitions.
4) Appointed curators are required to produce at least one new exhibition per term, to ensure that MoCA is and remains vibrant.
5) Appointed curators may decide to keep or remove any other existing artworks in place, and may decide upon the theme and application of their exhibits, which may be in the form of visual arts, SL or RL, or performing arts, or a mix
6) Curators must create appropriate signage for the displays.
7) Curators may appoint other CDS citizens to assist in any way they wish, as long as they keep to the rules.
8 ) A specific artifact not owned by anyone in the CDS who has permissions on it, and has historical-artistic value, must be left in place as is. This is the yellow-musical “Infra Assemblage” piece by Adam Ramona located on the roof.
9) Total land impact (li or ‘prim count’) must not exceed 665 on the museum parcel. The curator must keep within these limits without changing the building or the historical artifacts.
10) No artworks will be set for sale, and it is understood that the MoCA is not a place to market any arts or artists. Artists may be featured and celebrated.
