LUC Transcript November 10,2 018
attending: Tanoujin Milestone, Sudane Erato, Rosie Gray, Kyoko (samara.barzane)

Note: some extraneous material was edited out

[12:06] Rosie Gray: okay, I'm calling this meeting to order
[12:07] Rosie Gray: since I didn't make an agenda for this meeting, let's pick up from the last one
[12:07] Rosie Gray: if that's okay with everyone
[12:07] Kyoko (samara.barzane): fine with me
[12:07] Tanoujin Milestone: okay
[12:07] Sudane Erato: ok :)
[12:08] Rosie Gray: shall we start with the Consistency in region styles
[12:08] Rosie Gray: since it's been tabled for the last two meetings
[12:08] Sudane Erato: could we state the issue again
[12:08] Rosie Gray: this was Kyoko's, so perhaps you can do that
[12:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): OK I think you may have mistaken my interest
[12:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I'm more concerned with IN a specific sim
[12:09] Rosie Gray nods
[12:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): Consistency between isn't that big an issue for me
[12:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): they are different parts of the world
[12:10] Rosie Gray: can you give an example of what you're concerned about
[12:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane): the issue I think exists is transitions, but we already have Delia and Rosie on that one
[12:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I don't want to see all sims with the same terrain.
[12:10] Rosie Gray: neither do I
[12:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane): It just doesn't make sense to me
[12:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane): done
[12:11] Rosie Gray: so it was about terrain, for you
[12:11] Kyoko (samara.barzane): for me consistency between issues is about making a stab at a transition
[12:11] Sudane Erato: is this the topic of solving the terrain textures problem by using the same textures across all sims
[12:11] Kyoko (samara.barzane): sorry consistency between sims
[12:12] Kyoko (samara.barzane): apparently
[12:12] Rosie Gray: hmmm
[12:12] Kyoko (samara.barzane): which I am not in favor of
[12:12] Rosie Gray: neither am I
[12:12] Kyoko (samara.barzane): la and cn are historically mediterransean
[12:12] Rosie Gray: I don't see NFS and the alpine sims as having the same terrain textures as the mediterranean sims
[12:12] Kyoko (samara.barzane): the rest are northern sims
[12:13] Rosie Gray: exactly, and with the difference in altitude too
[12:13] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yep
[12:14] Kyoko (samara.barzane): well maybe then consistency between the alpine sims
[12:14] Sudane Erato: well... but these are sims which are only a few acres apart... and separated by large elevations... so the combo of 4 textures would be very different on each
[12:14] Kyoko (samara.barzane): and consistency betweern cn and la
[12:14] Kyoko (samara.barzane): understood
[12:14] Rosie Gray: so, to be honest
[12:14] Rosie Gray: I have struggled a lot with the terrain textures, to try and blend them nicely
[12:14] Sudane Erato: there has to be some kind of blending... :(
[12:15] Rosie Gray: it is very difficult given the constraints of SL
[12:15] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:15] Kyoko (samara.barzane): wb tan
[12:15] Tanoujin Milestone: it is just my settings, i am here and listening
[12:15] Rosie Gray: :D
[12:15] Sudane Erato: :)
[12:15] Kyoko (samara.barzane): Honestly I think the focus might be more on perking up CN with that village idea or some such
[12:16] Kyoko (samara.barzane): anyway
[12:16] Kyoko (samara.barzane): done
[12:16] Rosie Gray: I have come to the conclusion that there is only so much you can do with terrain textures
[12:16] Sudane Erato: I'd love to devise, and work on, that CN village idea
[12:17] Rosie Gray: can we come back to that idea, Sudane
[12:17] Sudane Erato: yes :)
[12:17] Sudane Erato: sorry
[12:17] Rosie Gray: I think we need to finish this conversation about terrain textures
[12:17] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:17] Tanoujin Milestone: may I ask....
[12:17] Rosie Gray: I'm frankly a bit concerned about the idea of using all the same textures on all the regions... I don't think that works
[12:17] Rosie Gray: yes Tan
[12:17] Tanoujin Milestone: how many terrain textures do we use atm
[12:18] Rosie Gray: each region has 4 textures
[12:18] Sudane Erato: every sim has 4
[12:18] Tanoujin Milestone: for the seasons, I guess
[12:18] Rosie Gray: in NFS, you need to have 1 of them as the rock, which is at the highest level
[12:18] Sudane Erato: no... 4 at once visible
[12:18] Tanoujin Milestone: okay, I see
[12:18] Rosie Gray: no, not for the seasons, for the different levels/areas and they blend
[12:18] Rosie Gray: Tan you are an EM
[12:18] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:18] Tanoujin Milestone: okay
[12:18] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:18] Tanoujin Milestone: a set of 4 for each
[12:19] Tanoujin Milestone: and how many sets do we use
[12:19] Sudane Erato: have a look at that page... it becomes clearer
[12:19] Rosie Gray: you can open up the World -> Region -> terrain window and look at what we have here
[12:19] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:19] Tanoujin Milestone: has been long since I looked, but I know that concept
[12:19] Tanoujin Milestone: so . how many sets
[12:20] Rosie Gray: this region has the sand for low, then 2 different greenish, then a browner
[12:20] Rosie Gray: each region has 4
[12:20] Tanoujin Milestone: one alpine, one mediterranean
[12:20] Sudane Erato: Tan, the sets are not totally different... and not totally the same
[12:20] Tanoujin Milestone: ohhhh, ic
[12:20] Sudane Erato: adjacent sims have some in common, so as to mask the boundary line
[12:21] Rosie Gray: and the only controls you have on them are the adjustments of low and high
[12:21] Sudane Erato: exactly
[12:21] Rosie Gray: and if you do exactly the same on each region, you would find that they do not blend
[12:21] Rosie Gray: it just doesn't work like that
[12:21] Sudane Erato: if the textures and settings at adjacent corners are not identical, you see lines
[12:21] Rosie Gray nods
[12:21] Sudane Erato: exactly
[12:21] Tanoujin Milestone: i wonder how they did it in Otherland
[12:22] Tanoujin Milestone: about 16 sims, all perfectly aligned
[12:22] Rosie Gray: and given that the low regions need sand, and the high region needs rock
[12:22] Rosie Gray: they must use prims, Tan
[12:22] Rosie Gray: unless they have very little change in elevation
[12:22] Rosie Gray: our terrain is very challenging
[12:22] Tanoujin Milestone: elevation seems to be the issue, yes
[12:22] Sudane Erato: hehe... yes!
[12:22] Rosie Gray: it makes ALL of the difference
[12:22] Tanoujin Milestone: thanks for explaining
[12:23] Sudane Erato: well... if we could use 4 textures across the entire 6 sims, it would be perfectly possible
[12:23] Rosie Gray: so, for me... I've spent quite a lot of time making adjustments, trying various different ways, and just find it is impossible
[12:23] Rosie Gray: but that wouldn't make sense Sudane
[12:23] Sudane Erato: why not
[12:23] Rosie Gray: how can you have the same terrain in the mediterranean as you have in alpine
[12:24] Sudane Erato: if we designate sand to be prims
[12:24] Rosie Gray: they aren't the same at all
[12:24] Kyoko (samara.barzane): snow
[12:24] Rosie Gray: okay let's take the example of the sand
[12:24] Sudane Erato: oh... i'm not so sure... I think they are more similar than we think
[12:24] Kyoko (samara.barzane): snow is the issue I think
[12:24] Kyoko (samara.barzane): sand can be done with prims
[12:24] Rosie Gray: yes we could use prims for sand, but you would need to cover all of the river sides
[12:24] Sudane Erato: no, snow would be easy...
[12:24] Rosie Gray: snow is easy
[12:25] Rosie Gray: it's the other seasons that aren't
[12:25] Kyoko (samara.barzane): OK educate me ;)
[12:25] Sudane Erato: its green and rock that we seem to see as a problem
[12:25] Rosie Gray: and you need rock for the top of NFS
[12:25] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:25] Sudane Erato: and a dryish green for the lowest areas
[12:25] Rosie Gray: yes
[12:26] Sudane Erato: and in between a transition
[12:26] Tanoujin Milestone: well rocks are not specifically un-mediterranean ;)
[12:26] Rosie Gray nods
[12:26] Rosie Gray: of course you have rocks everywhere
[12:26] Sudane Erato: but 4 textures could accomplish that
[12:26] Sudane Erato: hehe Tan :)
[12:26] Rosie Gray: well, maybe this is your next project, Sudane
[12:26] Rosie Gray: hehe
[12:26] Tanoujin Milestone: to be honest I do not know enough to judge but I would hope Sudane was right :D
[12:27] Sudane Erato: i'd be happy to try it... but
[12:27] Sudane Erato: we really MUST record what you've done
[12:27] Rosie Gray: absolutely
[12:27] Sudane Erato: as it is really not bad, and took a LOT of work
[12:27] Rosie Gray: every time I've done a change, I've written it all down, or taken photos of the terrain settings
[12:27] Tanoujin Milestone: yes, true
[12:27] Sudane Erato: ok... good
[12:28] Rosie Gray: so, I would advise doing that again
[12:28] Rosie Gray: so if you need to go back, you can
[12:28] Sudane Erato: yes, good
[12:28] Kyoko (samara.barzane): makes sense:)
[12:28] Rosie Gray:
[12:28] Tanoujin Milestone: you know, it is a joy to spend time with artists that do not bitch but just do a backup and try, lol
[12:28] Rosie Gray: so you'll have a go for autumn
[12:29] Rosie Gray: haha, Tan
[12:29] Sudane Erato: i do have to say... though... that I am not of fan of the high saturation green grass that many people want
[12:29] Rosie Gray: I'm not either, lol
[12:29] Rosie Gray: I also don't like the bland beach sand much either
[12:29] Sudane Erato: I like textures that are realistic
[12:29] Rosie Gray nods
[12:29] Sudane Erato: well... we'll need to create prim sand
[12:29] Rosie Gray: there is some already on the LA beach
[12:29] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:29] Rosie Gray: but you'd also need it on the CN beach
[12:29] Rosie Gray: and all along the river
[12:29] Sudane Erato: and it looks fine
[12:30] Rosie Gray: it's a lot
[12:30] Sudane Erato: hmm
[12:30] Sudane Erato: a river does not NEED sand
[12:30] Sudane Erato: most rivers aren't sandy
[12:30] Rosie Gray: no but it needs something to define it
[12:30] Sudane Erato: perhaps... ok
[12:30] Sudane Erato: true
[12:31] Rosie Gray: hmmm... just realized of course that since the RA went and passed that latest law
[12:31] Rosie Gray: that you can't just have a go without a big announcement
[12:31] Sudane Erato:
[12:31] Rosie Gray: and 2 weeks for people to argue about it
[12:31] Tanoujin Milestone: oh, but thats easy...
[12:31] Sudane Erato: well... I need to finish my Talenstrasse house first
[12:31] Sudane Erato: it will be a few weeks
[12:32] Rosie Gray: then it might be time for snow ;)
[12:32] Sudane Erato: *sigh*
[12:32] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:32] Rosie Gray: lol
[12:32] Tanoujin Milestone: i doubt anyone will ague earnestly against a terrain experiment
[12:32] Sudane Erato: well... snow is easy
[12:32] Rosie Gray: yes snow is the easy one
[12:32] Rosie Gray: if you have snow everywhere
[12:32] Sudane Erato: actually, using snow might be good... we can get all the corner settings right
[12:33] Sudane Erato: so when spring comes, they are set
[12:33] Sudane Erato: and its just a matter of picking textures
[12:33] Rosie Gray: well you have a go then ;)
[12:33] Sudane Erato: ok :)
[12:33] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:33] Tanoujin Milestone: cool
[12:33] Sudane Erato: my big mouth :)
[12:33] Rosie Gray: haha
[12:33] Tanoujin Milestone: teehee
[12:33] Kyoko (samara.barzane): are we talking snow on alpine sims
[12:33] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:33] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:34] Rosie Gray: last year we didn't have snow over all the med sims
[12:34] Asmita Duranjaya is online.
[12:34] Sudane Erato: snow all over... but perhaps less in CN and LA
[12:34] Sudane Erato: ok, thats fine too
[12:34] Sudane Erato: can do that
[12:34] Rosie Gray: just enough to blend them with the edges
[12:34] Sudane Erato: exactly
[12:34] Tanoujin Milestone: :)
[12:35] Rosie Gray: but the Chancellor has to give the word when to go to winter
[12:35] Tanoujin Milestone: What do you say Kyoko
[12:35] Sudane Erato: although... isn't CN supposed to be a German Roman city
[12:35] Tanoujin Milestone: You were against it
[12:35] Rosie Gray: no it's not Sudane
[12:35] Sudane Erato: ok
[12:35] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I have trouble with snow in the med. sims
[12:35] Rosie Gray: it's supposed to be a generic mediterranean area
[12:35] Sudane Erato: ok :)
[12:36] Sudane Erato: but... remember... sometimes snow is seen on the Parthenon!
[12:36] Tanoujin Milestone: sure!
[12:36] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but I'll just whimper if snow happens in LA
[12:36] Sudane Erato: and its certainly seen in the Greek mountains
[12:36] Tanoujin Milestone: in northern Italy it is quite normal
[12:36] Rosie Gray: haha, yes I do recall snow when I was in Athens once a million years ago
[12:36] Sudane Erato: exactly
[12:36] Sudane Erato: lol... NOT a million years ago! :)
[12:37] Rosie Gray: but just a skim
[12:37] Rosie Gray: hehe, feels like it!
[12:37] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:37] Rosie Gray: anyway, I think we've talked this topic out now
[12:37] Rosie Gray: if everyone agrees
[12:37] Sudane Erato: ok :)
[12:37] Sudane Erato: i'll get on it as soon as i finish Talenstrasse
[12:37] Tanoujin Milestone: I like it - just hpe Kyoko feels not railroaded
[12:37] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I'd like to see the terrains first
[12:38] Tanoujin Milestone: yessss. let us see
[12:38] Rosie Gray: btw Sudane, you will be able to change the 'green' textures on the prim terrain prims I have down on the sim edges
[12:38] Sudane Erato: Kyoko, we can always change it back
[12:38] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but I won't oppose. I'll anstain
[12:38] Rosie Gray: to match whatever you are using
[12:38] Kyoko (samara.barzane): *abstain
[12:38] Sudane Erato: ok... thx :)
[12:38] Sudane Erato: i have your perms
[12:38] Rosie Gray: you do
[12:38] Sudane Erato: ok
[12:39] Tanoujin Milestone: absolutely :)
[12:39] Rosie Gray: plus they are all shared with the LV group anyway
[12:39] Sudane Erato: ahh... ok
[12:39] Rosie Gray: Kyoko, you are saying you want to see the terrain textures first, before they are down
[12:40] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I'm abstaining
[12:40] Rosie Gray: oh okay
[12:40] Rosie Gray: right let's move on then
[12:40] Sudane Erato: you can't really tell how they'll look until they're down
[12:40] Rosie Gray: Map of public spaces
[12:40] Rosie Gray: Map of public spaces, what they are intended for and how people can register to use them (Delia)
[12:41] Tanoujin Milestone: ahhhh, Delia's topic
[12:41] Sudane Erato: its a good idea
[12:41] Rosie Gray: seems like a good idea
[12:41] Tanoujin Milestone: we can add it to the info center
[12:41] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I think that's a great idea
[12:41] Kyoko (samara.barzane): Anything that makes us more user friendly
[12:41] Rosie Gray: should we start with a document and some pics
[12:42] Tanoujin Milestone: people always worry whether they are welcome on a parcel (if they are civilized)
[12:42] Rosie Gray: I think that Mizou sort of did some of that already, but probably not comprehensively
[12:42] Sudane Erato: :)... a big if
[12:42] Tanoujin Milestone: :) lol, I have to touch my own nose
[12:43] Tanoujin Milestone: where is the list of Mizou
[12:43] Rosie Gray: it's a prim map with built in tp's
[12:43] Rosie Gray: in the Rathaus
[12:43] Sudane Erato: oh!... that's neat
[12:44] Kyoko (samara.barzane): oh is it a terrain map? That's someplace in NFS
[12:44] Rosie Gray: but not comprehensive, I think
[12:44] Sudane Erato: but not a lot of detail...
[12:44] Rosie Gray: right
[12:44] Rosie Gray: yes, Kyoko
[12:44] Tanoujin Milestone: it is a starting point
[12:44] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yep
[12:44] Rosie Gray: I think we need to start with a document and some images
[12:44] Rosie Gray: to capture all of the spots
[12:44] Sudane Erato: agreed
[12:44] Sudane Erato: and a survey
[12:45] Tanoujin Milestone: so, what about deriving a list from that prim map and add details and more places
[12:45] Kyoko (samara.barzane): although a schematic map might be nmore useful as the terrain makes the map busy
[12:45] Sudane Erato: true
[12:45] Rosie Gray: I agree Kyoko, it does
[12:46] Rosie Gray: well, I can start a list
[12:46] Kyoko (samara.barzane): The terrian map is gorgeous, but I think it does something different
[12:46] Rosie Gray: and invite you all to it
[12:46] Rosie Gray: but what were you meaning by a survey, Sudane
[12:46] Kyoko (samara.barzane): Once this week is over I can pitch in too
[12:46] Sudane Erato: Rosie, what are the criteria for inclusion on the list
[12:46] Sudane Erato: well... coming up with the full list
[12:47] Sudane Erato: we may forget things
[12:47] Sudane Erato: or
[12:47] Rosie Gray: Delia had this idea, and I think it was meant to be public spaces
[12:47] Sudane Erato: not consider a place as includable
[12:47] Rosie Gray: but we could include all of the privately owned spaces too
[12:47] Kyoko (samara.barzane): That they are places that are community owned and public. Like amphitheatre, thermae etc..
[12:47] Rosie Gray nods
[12:48] Tanoujin Milestone: pleaseadd the privaltely owned parcels as well, I want to see the inspiration park on that list
[12:48] Sudane Erato: well... what about my Sanctuary, or the Peace Park, which are privately owned but welcome the public
[12:48] Rosie Gray: so the problem with including privately owned places, is that unless they are more or less 'permanent', it would create a whole lot of changing things
[12:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): my ide, I'll do a mock up is a sketchy map where the private spaces are shaded and the others labeled.
[12:48] Sudane Erato: yes, Inspiration Park, sorry'
[12:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): But we would also include a category for stores and galleries
[12:48] Sudane Erato: oh... ok!
[12:48] Rosie Gray: oh that seems like a good idea
[12:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): would = could
[12:49] Sudane Erato: :)
[12:49] Rosie Gray: and I'd rather see it more like a list with tp's, than scattered all over a map
[12:49] Rosie Gray: just for ease of reading it
[12:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): you know like the maps you get in malls, but shading out privaTE SPACES
[12:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): SORRY FOR MY KEYBOARD
[12:49] Rosie Gray: haha
[12:49] Tanoujin Milestone: hehe
[12:49] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane) sighs
[12:50] Kyoko (samara.barzane): it's a gaming one and the postions are a bit different
[12:50] Rosie Gray: well we can decide on the layout later, but for now let's start gathering all of the places
[12:50] Kyoko (samara.barzane): a list with photos is also possible
[12:50] Sudane Erato: in general i'm good with real maps, but those schematic maps often confuse me
[12:50] Tanoujin Milestone nods
[12:51] Rosie Gray: do you think we need a real survey, or just perhaps some announcements through the group asking for places if people want to add them
[12:51] Sudane Erato: that would surely do
[12:51] Kyoko (samara.barzane): group announcement
[12:51] Rosie Gray: okay
[12:51] Sudane Erato: and we can add things later if they pop up
[12:52] Rosie Gray: right
[12:52] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yep
[12:52] Tanoujin Milestone: a thread where people can add their places
[12:52] Rosie Gray: let's not make it overly complicated ;)
[12:52] Sudane Erato: yeah
[12:52] Kyoko (samara.barzane): in forum. sure
[12:52] Rosie Gray: sure, on the forum
[12:52] Rosie Gray: good idea
[12:52] Tanoujin Milestone: :)
[12:52] Sudane Erato: sure
[12:52] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but we'd need to be clear what categories there are
[12:52] Rosie Gray: yes
[12:52] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:52] Tanoujin Milestone: maybe we can add the result to the portal
[12:52] Rosie Gray: let's start a private doc first, then post it and ask for additions
[12:52] Tanoujin Milestone: yes, agreed
[12:52] Rosie Gray: yes great idea Tan
[12:52] Rosie Gray:
[12:53] Tanoujin Milestone: :) ty
[12:53] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yep
[12:53] Rosie Gray: so, we're good with this, and can move to the next item
[12:53] Tanoujin Milestone: ok
[12:53] Kyoko (samara.barzane): ok
[12:53] Sudane Erato: ok!
[12:53] Rosie Gray: Colonia Nova plaza - updating old builds on central plaza owned by private citizens.
[12:54] Sudane Erato:I mentioned that Gwyn has given me her perms
[12:54] Rosie Gray: right
[12:54] Sudane Erato: so I can mod that corner
[12:54] Rosie Gray: so you can move her things out of the way
[12:54] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:54] Rosie Gray: do you want to take on this as well as NFS
[12:54] Sudane Erato: however we plan to do thingbs
[12:54] Sudane Erato: oh... well
[12:54] Sudane Erato: not sure
[12:54] Rosie Gray: and then there was the idea of CN densification with another little village area
[12:55] Sudane Erato: yes
[12:55] Sudane Erato: I'd rather work on that
[12:55] Rosie Gray nods
[12:55] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I think a reconfiguration of that corner would really help us
[12:55] Rosie Gray: I wouldn't mind working on the CN plaza area
[12:55] Sudane Erato: yes, the east end of the river
[12:55] Kyoko (samara.barzane) likes the idea of a small fishing village
[12:55] Sudane Erato: ok... great!
[12:56] Rosie Gray: I would love to see your idea of a small fishing village, Sudane
[12:56] Sudane Erato: didn't i post a scribble
[12:56] Tanoujin Milestone: did you
[12:56] Sudane Erato: yes, over there
[12:56] Tanoujin Milestone: dang - zoom
[12:56] Rosie Gray: yes
[12:57] Sudane Erato: hehe
[12:57] Rosie Gray: I mean I want to see it when you've made it hehe
[12:57] Sudane Erato: its very scribbly :)
[12:57] Sudane Erato: oh! :)
[12:57] Rosie Gray: but this is something that would really need to be done 'officially'
[12:57] Sudane Erato: yes, it would
[12:57] Sudane Erato: like when we modified LA
[12:57] Rosie Gray: yeah
[12:58] Tanoujin Milestone: i believe what you scribbled would really help
[12:58] Rosie Gray: for sure!
[12:58] Tanoujin Milestone: but our horses will be a bit sad
[12:58] Sudane Erato: why
[12:58] Tanoujin Milestone: ;)
[12:58] Sudane Erato: they don't like climbing mountains
[12:58] Tanoujin Milestone: all the nice void
[12:59] Tanoujin Milestone: :)
[12:59] Sudane Erato: ahhh
[12:59] Sudane Erato: :)
[12:59] Rosie Gray: our horses are welcome to purchase some nice pastures if they so desire
[12:59] Tanoujin Milestone: they would be happy to have a stable, btw
[12:59] Kyoko (samara.barzane): which folder is the scribble in
[12:59] Sudane Erato: hehe :)
[12:59] Rosie Gray: it's on the wall, Kyoko
[12:59] Rosie Gray: behind you
[12:59] Sudane Erato: oh... should I put it in the drive someplace
[12:59] Kyoko (samara.barzane): ooooooops
[13:00] Rosie Gray: yes, might be a good idea to add it to the LUC folder, Sudane
[13:00] Tanoujin Milestone: if you don't mind, Sudane
[13:00] Sudane Erato: ok!
[13:00] Kyoko (samara.barzane): well I have some nice pasture in LA, but you'd have to share with the cows LOL
[13:00] Tanoujin Milestone: lol
[13:00] Rosie Gray: :D
[13:00] Kyoko (samara.barzane): ok see it
[13:00] Sudane Erato: you can use mine as well, but you have to share it with my goats :)
[13:01] Kyoko (samara.barzane): looks lovely
[13:01] Rosie Gray: so I guess the next step would be to discuss this at the Chancellor and RA level, to get approval for even the idea
[13:01] Sudane Erato: yes
[13:01] Rosie Gray: and then post on the forums too
[13:01] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yep
[13:01] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I doubt if it's very controversial
[13:01] Rosie Gray: yeah
[13:01] Rosie Gray:
[13:02] Rosie Gray: as for the CN plaza area
[13:02] Rosie Gray: I have some ideas about this, but would also like to discuss
[13:02] Rosie Gray: I have been thinking about 'what is missing'
[13:03] Kyoko (samara.barzane): a cafe
[13:03] Kyoko (samara.barzane): or espresso bar
[13:03] Rosie Gray: one thing is sidewalks, and things like pillars where you would want a barrier
[13:03] Rosie Gray: I've just made a cafe there, Kyoko
[13:03] Kyoko (samara.barzane): WooT
[13:03] Rosie Gray: across from the bookstore
[13:03] Kyoko (samara.barzane): nice :)
[13:03] Rosie Gray: but for the actual streets, I think that the ancient roman thing is a bit tired
[13:04] Rosie Gray: not that I'd want to get rid of it all together, but just make it seem more in the background
[13:04] Sudane Erato: interesting..
[13:04] Sudane Erato: fine with me... but might be controversial
[13:04] Rosie Gray: update the street look to more like somewhere between 1920 and 1960
[13:04] Rosie Gray: well the theme has changed
[13:05] Rosie Gray: it's no longer ancient roman
[13:05] Kyoko (samara.barzane): butr then we have thethermae praetorium wtc...
[13:05] Rosie Gray: but other than some streetlamps, we haven't updated the streets at all
[13:06] Tokugawa Mizuki (asia.connell) is online.
[13:06] Rosie Gray: COLONIA NOVA specific covenant

Colonia Nova is a historical, southern-European themed sim (Italian/Greek/Spanish or generically northern-Mediterranean) featuring a shopping district, an amphitheatre, the public thermae and the seat of the CDS government, the Praetorium. Buildings in this region resemble styles of southern-Europe and should aim to link visually with the styles of Locus Amoenus and Alpine Meadows at those regional borders.
[13:06] Sudane Erato: well, they're marb;le... so ancient
[13:06] Object: Tanoujin Milestone is away!
[13:06] Object: Tanoujin Milestone is online!
[13:06] Kyoko (samara.barzane): wb
[13:06] Tanoujin Milestone: lol, ty
[13:07] Rosie Gray: ah... thinking about the covenant also reminds me that with a new fishing village, that this covenant will need updating too
[13:07] Tanoujin Milestone: :) sure
[13:07] Rosie Gray sighs
[13:08] Kyoko (samara.barzane): well that's what we're here for ;)
[13:08] Rosie Gray: yes, lol
[13:08] Rosie Gray: just so much one thing leads to another
[13:08] Rosie Gray: hehe
[13:08] Lyubov (20180414) is online.
[13:08] Tanoujin Milestone: we share the jobs - you builders build and we try to keep your backs covered ;)
[13:09] Rosie Gray: thank you Tan
[13:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane) grins
[13:09] Sudane Erato: FYI... the scribble is in the LUC folder now
[13:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): thanks
[13:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I grabbed a copy of the one on the wall also
[13:09] Sudane Erato: ok good :)
[13:09] Rosie Gray: but what do you 3 think about the idea I had for updating the CN streets I mean the streets inside the walls
[13:09] Kyoko (samara.barzane): mixed
[13:09] Sudane Erato: go for it!
[13:10] Tanoujin Milestone: you are absolutely right
[13:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane) unmixes
[13:10] Rosie Gray: hehe
[13:10] Sudane Erato: hehe
[13:10] Rosie Gray: no, say what you are thinking, Kyoko
[13:10] Kyoko (samara.barzane): well as Sudane said, covenant or not, I think the redesign has to be slight rather than radical
[13:11] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but otherwise
[13:11] Kyoko (samara.barzane): start digging ;)
[13:11] Rosie Gray: haha
[13:11] Rosie Gray: well I am not thinking radical either
[13:11] Rosie Gray: I'm thinking of more like blending in some more modern (i.e. 20's to 60's) style of things on the streets
[13:11] Sudane Erato: well, we have continually reshaped NFS, particularly the city... and it has never been radical all in one moment
[13:11] Rosie Gray: yeah
[13:11] Sudane Erato: and perhaps this should be the same
[13:12] Rosie Gray: that's what I'm thinking
[13:12] Rosie Gray: just to make it more interesting and realistic
[13:12] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I've been wandering the sims and am enjoying NFS more and more
[13:12] Sudane Erato: updating, and making more interesting
[13:12] Rosie Gray: exactly, Sudane
[13:12] Sudane Erato: exactly
[13:12] Rosie Gray: in some ways CN is easier, because it's all squared off in the roman way
[13:12] Sudane Erato: thats true!
[13:13] Rosie Gray: but in other ways, it's more challenging, because it's all squared off in the roman way
[13:13] Rosie Gray: hiya Lyubov
[13:13] Sudane Erato: hehe
[13:13] Lyubov (20180414): hey all :)
[13:13] Rosie Gray: hehe, if you know what I mean
[13:13] Kyoko (samara.barzane): Hi Lyubov :)
[13:13] Kyoko (samara.barzane) giggles
[13:13] Tanoujin Milestone: hey Lyubov :)
[13:13] Lyubov (20180414): :)
[13:14] Tanoujin Milestone: well, when I think of CN city, I have something like Bologna in mind
[13:14] Rosie Gray: ah, okay
[13:14] Tanoujin Milestone: they took good care of their heritage
[13:14] Rosie Gray: so images of Bologna would be good to study
[13:14] Tanoujin Milestone: but of course it is a modern city
[13:14] Sudane Erato: oh... but it is hardly rectilinear!
[13:14] Kyoko (samara.barzane) nods
[13:15] Rosie Gray: sadly, I have never been there
[13:15] Tanoujin Milestone: thats true, Sudane, but the building style, the plaster
[13:15] Sudane Erato: ahhh
[13:15] Tanoujin Milestone: fountains, what we call "Street furniture"
[13:15] Sudane Erato: :)
[13:15] Rosie Gray: can anyone think of a med city that is laid out in the rectilinear style that would be good to look at
[13:16] Lyubov (20180414): i might have missed the scenic parts of Bologna, was with my dad touring the Ducati factory, so it seemed pretty industrial where we were :)
[13:16] Tanoujin Milestone: eeek, lol
[13:16] Sudane Erato: hehe
[13:16] Kyoko (samara.barzane) searches her memory
[13:16] Kyoko (samara.barzane): was just in Napoli
[13:16] Sudane Erato: i was there VERY long ago... in the 70's
[13:16] Kyoko (samara.barzane): its twists and turns have twists and turns
[13:16] Rosie Gray sings a song in her head about Napoli
[13:16] Sudane Erato: exactly... and buildings you walk under
[13:17] Kyoko (samara.barzane): right
[13:17] Kyoko (samara.barzane): gallerias
[13:17] Sudane Erato: ahhh
[13:17] Tanoujin Milestone: arcades, yes
[13:17] Sudane Erato: oh... ok
[13:17] Lyubov (20180414): arcades, right...
[13:17] Rosie Gray: seems to me all Italian cities have these characteristics
[13:17] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I was thinking of the one in Naples
[13:18] Kyoko (samara.barzane): would actually make a nice center of a sim
[13:18] Tanoujin Milestone: Firenze, Milano...
[13:18] Lyubov (20180414): think of venice on st marks
[13:18] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but not CN
[13:18] Lyubov (20180414): under water atm though
[13:18] Kyoko (samara.barzane): tourists were swimming there
[13:18] Sudane Erato: well, CN was originally supposed to be Cologne... or some southern German / Roman town
[13:18] Rosie Gray: hmmm, but we aren't talking about radical changes ;)
[13:18] Sudane Erato: we've transformed it... re-defined
[13:18] Kyoko (samara.barzane): right
[13:19] Lyubov (20180414): i hate those empty storefronts.. i love what youve done rosie with the bookstore and cafe
[13:19] Rosie Gray: I'm just doing a quick search of Italian city layouts
[13:19] Rosie Gray: awh, thanks Lyubov
[13:19] Tanoujin Milestone: well, I know a roman city, with square street layout, but the houses are all baroque now
[13:19] Rosie Gray: what about Florence
[13:20] Rosie Gray: it seems to have some of the characteristics
[13:20] Tanoujin Milestone: thumbs up, florence is surely a good example
[13:20] Sudane Erato: but Florence is definitely twisty turney
[13:20] Rosie Gray sighs
[13:20] Sudane Erato: that i remember well
[13:20] Rosie Gray: yeah... can't find one that isn't
[13:21] Sudane Erato: oh dear... sadly i must go
[13:21] Sudane Erato: sorry!
[13:21] Kyoko (samara.barzane) waves bye ;)
[13:21] Rosie Gray: thanks for being here while you couldn, Sudane
[13:21] Tanoujin Milestone: ohhh, okay - see you Sudane!
[13:21] Lyubov (20180414): if you want a grid, i would think it would have to be newly rebuilt, post-war, and then you would lose all the character we love
[13:21] Lyubov (20180414): tc sudane! :)
[13:21] Sudane Erato: see you all soon... ty! :)
[13:21] Rosie Gray: bye
[13:21] Tanoujin Milestone: bye for now!
[13:22] Rosie Gray: well this will take some thought, and yeah, I hate the grid myself
[13:22] Rosie Gray: but that's the way it is
[13:22] Rosie Gray: so looking for some ways to soften it up
[13:22] Tanoujin Milestone: i have no problem with the grid
[13:22] Rosie Gray grins
[13:23] Kyoko (samara.barzane): nor I
[13:23] Tanoujin Milestone: the areas around the temples are okay....
[13:23] Rosie Gray: it's the main plaza that is the issue, I think
[13:23] Rosie Gray: it's so boring
[13:23] Lyubov (20180414): it feels like a Stalin-era moonscape
[13:23] Lyubov (20180414): or "boring" :)
[13:23] Rosie Gray: haha
[13:24] Tanoujin Milestone: lol
[13:24] Rosie Gray: well it's old-school SL
[13:24] Kyoko (samara.barzane): the proportions bother me
[13:24] Rosie Gray: and in all fairness, was meant to be ancient Roman
[13:24] Kyoko (samara.barzane): it's long
[13:24] Rosie Gray nods
[13:25] Lyubov (20180414): i read the Master Plan the other day... said someting about abandoning the idea, if it was ever re-vistied, and extending the LA theme...
[13:25] Rosie Gray: oh my, you have been doing your homework, Lyubov!
[13:25] Lyubov (20180414): i have a lot to catch up on to hang out with this crowd! :D
[13:26] Rosie Gray: :D
[13:26] Kyoko (samara.barzane) smiles
[13:26] Rosie Gray: well, right now it is med of undefined time period
[13:26] Rosie Gray: that was to keep the ancient Roman fans happy
[13:27] Lyubov (20180414): idk... i'd get the main plaza filled with *something* .. .and the riverfront is all empty, maybe an opportunity
[13:27] Rosie Gray: yes we've talked about the river area already
[13:27] Lyubov (20180414): k sry... did see that in prior LUC notes, love the concept
[13:27] Tanoujin Milestone: look at the scribble on the wall right of you Lyubov
[13:27] Kyoko (samara.barzane): It will be in the minutes on the forum
[13:27] Lyubov (20180414): ooohhhhh! :)
[13:28] Kyoko (samara.barzane): when I get it posted LOL
[13:28] Rosie Gray: I think one of the issues is that in most if not all of these RL Italian cities, is that they have some splendid building right on their main square
[13:28] Rosie Gray: and we have put our splendid buildings off the main square
[13:28] Lyubov (20180414): i'm thinking Madrid, was just there.. but same idea...
[13:28] Kyoko (samara.barzane): I think we could lose the 2 arcades opposite your bookstore and cafe
[13:28] Lyubov (20180414): plaza catalyunia, Sol...
[13:29] Rosie Gray: yes, they are private parcels though
[13:29] Kyoko (samara.barzane): right
[13:29] Rosie Gray: also the building next in the roman style with all of the columns
[13:29] Kyoko (samara.barzane): anyway I find the space too narrow
[13:29] Rosie Gray: and the one with all of the arches
[13:30] Rosie Gray: which space is too narrow
[13:30] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but slow and sure we go ;)
[13:30] Kyoko (samara.barzane): the central square is an oblong
[13:30] Kyoko (samara.barzane): makes me nervous LOL
[13:30] Rosie Gray: hehe
[13:31] Lyubov (20180414): what would it take to invite people to relocate i can't imagine anyone is heart-set but i could be very very wrong :)
[13:31] Rosie Gray: that's a good question, Lyubov
[13:31] Rosie Gray: but before we would even think of asking people that, we'd have to have a plan
[13:31] Rosie Gray: I think Gwyn might be okay with it
[13:32] Lyubov (20180414): exactly, must have a vistikon/concept to sell
[13:32] Rosie Gray: but as far as Cindy goes... I think she might just give it up altogether
[13:32] Rosie Gray: she's had that parcel for many years
[13:32] Rosie Gray: what do you think, Tan
[13:32] Kyoko (samara.barzane) nods
[13:32] Tanoujin Milestone: we can not ask until we have a plan for relocation
[13:33] Tanoujin Milestone: and we should accept a plain Nay
[13:33] Kyoko (samara.barzane) agrees
[13:33] Lyubov (20180414): sounds fair
[13:33] Rosie Gray nods
[13:34] Rosie Gray looks at the clock
[13:35] Tanoujin Milestone: oh, is there something left
[13:35] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yes please
[13:35] Rosie Gray: anything else before we adjourn
[13:35] Tanoujin Milestone: yes
[13:35] Tanoujin Milestone: maybe we could add an agenda item
[13:35] Rosie Gray: sure
[13:35] Rosie Gray: what do you have in mind
[13:36] Tanoujin Milestone: Lyubov had the idea to discuss the possibility to add landscaping meshes to the sim borders
[13:36] Lyubov (20180414): ohh yes!
[13:36] Tanoujin Milestone: ;)
[13:36] Rosie Gray: haha, well that fits exactly with the whole topic of terrain textures
[13:36] Lyubov (20180414): i think that could do a lot
[13:36] Tanoujin Milestone: okay :)
[13:36] Rosie Gray: and I agree... that's why I already put some there
[13:36] Lyubov (20180414): :)
[13:37] Kyoko (samara.barzane): great minds :)
[13:37] Rosie Gray: but that wasn't the consensus when we were talking about that topic
[13:37] Rosie Gray: I personally think that is the best solution
[13:37] Kyoko (samara.barzane): did we discuss that
[13:37] Rosie Gray: well sort of
[13:38] Rosie Gray: I've already got landscaping kprims down to cover some of the borders
[13:38] Rosie Gray: to hide the terrain changes
[13:38] Tanoujin Milestone: ahhhh, we have the outer edges in mind
[13:38] Kyoko (samara.barzane): k
[13:38] Lyubov (20180414): i'm suggesting the off-sim surround meshes
[13:38] Rosie Gray: the outer edges
[13:38] Rosie Gray: aah
[13:38] Kyoko (samara.barzane): off sim surround
[13:39] Rosie Gray: you know, I've looked at those, but I've never found one that would work for our higher regions
[13:39] Rosie Gray: they are all designed for lowlands
[13:39] Lyubov (20180414): you can make a landscape 1/2 a sim off the actual sim
[13:39] Lyubov (20180414): well, i'd be interested in figuring out how they work and make our own
[13:39] Tanoujin Milestone: :)
[13:39] Rosie Gray: haha, well that's ambitious, I'll give you that
[13:39] Tanoujin Milestone: hand tailored, eh
[13:40] Lyubov (20180414): i've seen two in the past week, one was a Yosemite theme, the other the normal beach volcano islands
[13:40] Lyubov (20180414): the creator Does Not do custom work...
[13:40] Rosie Gray: I've seen those two as well
[13:40] Rosie Gray: they wouldn't work for us
[13:40] Lyubov (20180414): but they are 2k for 2 full sim surround
[13:40] Rosie Gray: yes, it's not the cost, it's how they are designed
[13:40] Lyubov (20180414): and i was thinking we could figure out how it works, idk, i know nothing lol
[13:40] Rosie Gray: they are meant for low lying areas
[13:41] Lyubov (20180414): i think maybe only becasue the SL market is all beach so most areas are low lying... :)
[13:41] Rosie Gray: I've even got samples from them in order to try them out
[13:41] Rosie Gray: yes, it's for simple landscapes
[13:41] Lyubov (20180414): mmm k
[13:41] Rosie Gray: our landscapes are challenging ;)
[13:42] Rosie Gray: some of the corner ones would work off of CN and LA, but not the higher sims
[13:42] Tanoujin Milestone: and again - elevatioon
[13:42] Lyubov (20180414): i'm just looking for a gentler roll-off of the boundries...
[13:42] Rosie Gray: we already have some small ones off of CN and LA
[13:42] Lyubov (20180414): i'm sure you've considered actual Open Spaces sims too
[13:42] Rosie Gray: SL have discontinuyed Open Space sims
[13:42] Rosie Gray: just recently
[13:43] Rosie Gray: discontinued*
[13:43] Lyubov (20180414): i saw that, but old ones shoudl still be possible for resale idk
[13:43] Rosie Gray: but sadly, adding sims is expensive, and I doubt anyone wants to pay more
[13:43] Lyubov (20180414): right
[13:43] Rosie Gray: especially we have a lot of unsold land now
[13:43] Tanoujin Milestone: how much are they in maintenance
[13:44] Lyubov (20180414): usd 50/month or so
[13:44] Tanoujin Milestone: hm, okay...
[13:44] Rosie Gray: anyway, shall we add this for a following Agenda
[13:44] Kyoko (samara.barzane): works for me
[13:44] Lyubov (20180414): usd 60 https://community.secondlife.com/knowle ... ons-r1032/
[13:44] Rosie Gray: maybe people want to look into it more
[13:45] Rosie Gray:
[13:45] Tanoujin Milestone: lets talk it through
[13:45] Rosie Gray: okay, then I'll call this meeting adjourned
[13:45] Tanoujin Milestone whispers: thank you !
[13:45] Kyoko (samara.barzane): how about next meeting
[13:45] Lyubov (20180414): and i can poke around and try to figure out how they're made at least, maybe that gets us some direction, and see who is making them, if anyone is open to custom work, idk...
[13:46] Kyoko (samara.barzane): it would be goood to get the public spaces underway to hand over
[13:46] Rosie Gray: seems like next meeting we might have a new Chancellor, in which case at least a couple of members will change
[13:46] Lyubov (20180414): (says the girl still playing with her balloon :)
[13:46] Tanoujin Milestone: :D
[13:46] Kyoko (samara.barzane): when does chancellor take office>
[13:46] Rosie Gray: first of Dec
[13:47] Rosie Gray: or sometime around then when they can be sworn in... is that correct Tan
[13:47] Kyoko (samara.barzane): well we can when do the polls close
[13:47] Kyoko (samara.barzane): we can meet one more time I think
[13:47] Lyubov (20180414): when do my leaves and grasses turn to snow bought some things last night to get ready :)
[13:47] Rosie Gray: hahah
[13:47] Kyoko (samara.barzane): ask the next chancellor LOL
[13:47] Lyubov (20180414): uh oh! :)
[13:47] Rosie Gray: okay do you want to meet one more time in Nov
[13:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): yes
[13:48] Rosie Gray: I cannot next weekend
[13:48] Tanoujin Milestone: Kyoko, I will keep it in mind to make sure we have as much personal continuity as possible in the LUC, as far as my influence reaches
[13:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): no worries
[13:48] Lyubov (20180414): us thanksgiving the 2nd weekend, but no one lives in the us, it seems :)
[13:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): thanks you Tan
[13:48] Tanoujin Milestone: :)
[13:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): erm I do
[13:48] Kyoko (samara.barzane): but I can do the weekend
[13:48] Rosie Gray: haha
[13:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): just not that thursday
[13:49] Rosie Gray: the 24th
[13:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): sure
[13:49] Rosie Gray: Tan
[13:49] Tanoujin Milestone: any day is fine
[13:49] Rosie Gray: when is US Thanksgiving
[13:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): how about a poll
[13:49] Tanoujin Milestone: as long as we stick to noon
[13:49] Kyoko (samara.barzane): 22 I think
[13:49] Lyubov (20180414): yes thursday the 22nd
[13:50] Rosie Gray: okay how about a Doodle
[13:50] Kyoko (samara.barzane): 24 is fine with me
[13:50] Kyoko (samara.barzane): doodle away
[13:50] Rosie Gray: Sudane can only do weekends too
[13:50] Rosie Gray: don't know about Delia
[13:50] Rosie Gray: I'll do a Doodle
[13:50] Kyoko (samara.barzane): or ranma
[13:50] Tanoujin Milestone: okay :)
[13:50] Rosie Gray: right
