Seeking agenda items for 29 March RA

Post by Cindy Ecksol »

In my role as LRA pro tempore, I'm seeking agenda items anyone may have for Sunday's meeting.

Please e-mail to [email protected]

Thanks!

Here are some ideas I have for discussion in the Representative Assembly, with appropriate forum threads as references:

• Possible penalties for citizens who ignore or undermine the Constitution, and how these would be determined.

• The CDS anthem.

• The CDS flag.

• Holding more formal discussions about the Al Andalus sims possibly joining the CDS.

• Possibly beginning work toward purchase of a new sim for the CDS.

Thanks, Sonja. I've included the Flag Bill and the Anthem Bill on Sunday's agenda (posted at http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2389).

We do not yet have a proposal from the Chancellor regarding AA, so there's really not anything for RA to do there yet.

I agree that it might be good idea to start talking about expansion (NOT about GMP development -- the Guild has a working group focused on that right now), but since there's no specific proposal ready to be laid on the table I'd suggest that you open that conversation during our open discussion time and then perhaps introduce a baseline proposal to be debated by RA at the next meeting. As we talk about adding a new sim, we should keep in mind that RA's reference point should be the current GMP, not any of the revised versions that are currently being considered by the working group.

Nudge, nudge.

Is there any way the Representative Assembly would like to offer assistance or guidance to the Chancellor in this matter?

I expect that the Chancellor has things quite well in hand and will ask the RA for assistance and/or guidance when and if it is required :-)

Seriously, though -- there really is little RA can do but wait for a proposal to come before it. It's not like we can corner Jamie and insist that he make a proposal to merge AA with CDS in some way. HE must wait for the owners of AA to come to him with a proposal, gather data from them, negotiate on things that he knows will be outside of CDS law until they are (at least in his view) in compliance, and only THEN come to RA with a proposal. Hopefully the proposal he brings to RA will be fiscally sound, politically feasible, and a good fit with the current GMP. Only at that point will we have real data and understand more about the desires of the sim owners and AA residents vis a vis a merger with CDS. Then we can discuss what we like/don't like, find a consensus, and eventually vote on whether or not to implement the proposal.

Yes, I know this has been a long time cooking, but I think we just have to continue to be patient until it is fully baked. A half-baked proposal just won't fly :-)
