After extensive discussion and commentary on a variety of original proposals and notes, a plan of Friedsee alterations has been arrived at by the Land Use Commission for approval by the Chancellor and the RA. The alterations are modest, and they aim to achieve a raising of the quality of the environmental experience and economic value the region while preserving the original spirit and intent of the sim’s design.
The proposals are as follows.
1 Modify approximately one third of the existing unsold parcels to make them more desirable for purchase. The changes are relatively small, and include both parcel boundary changes plus some terraforming.
2 Add a parcel onto a portion of the island in the lake.
3 Remove the prim parcels, deemed unnecessary, and add the area of the one occupied prim parcel to the main parcel of the owner of that prim parcel.
4 Lower the elevation of the airstrip so as not to suffocate so much the environs of the lake and its surrounding parcels.
5 Maintain the current location of all paths, but upgrade their quality. The goal is to make a more pleasurable experience for those using the paths.
6 Special attention to the north (top of the ridge) road from Neufreistadt where it enters Friedsee. This boundary has been in the past extremely abrupt, and it is proposed to create a boundary road that makes more sense.
7 Create a road > path boundary road in the valley of Neufreistadt into Friedsee and another path connecting Monastery and Friedsee. There is an existing path from Friedsee into Monastery which dead-ends at the ice cave at the top of Monastery, but nothing which connects to the main paths and roads of Monastery.
8 Improve the natural features of Friedsee, the rocks, trees, rivers, water.
Owing to some mis-understanding of the scope of these alterations and the approval process, some of these steps have already been carried out. We beg your forgiveness for these mis-steps, and other than items 1,2 and 3 most of the changes can be reversed should the RA dis-approve (some of the re-parceled parcels have been sold, so changes there would be difficult). But items 4,5,6,7 and 8 all remain either yet to be done or tentatively done and easily reversed.
The alterations still to be done should take no more than a few weeks. The Chancellor will designate who will perform the various tasks.
It has been suggested that a map be attached to this proposal to more easily visualize the impact. In the interests of speed, I am posting this proposal here today, and will hopefully be able to muster a suitable map/visualization of the alterations shortly.
Any and all thoughts and comments on this proposal are very welcomed. Over weekend times I'd be more than happy to discuss with people in-world any of these ideas, and inspect the sim. We are very much hoping that these small changes will greatly increase the desirability of Friedsee.
