Coop and I definitely felt the warm personal welcome and it's one of the reasons we engaged with the community. So many people IMd us, introduced themselves and offered to help us. And it did not feel like overkill. It was just right!

Re: Constitutional Amendment - Eligibility to vote
After reading Candence's thoughts, I see why oath renewal would easily be considered in a negative light. (I had some celebratory image in my head.)Then I'd love to see a quarterly event where new members take an oath of citizenship, existing citizens are recognized and – maybe once or twice a year –old members can renew an oath of citizenship.
Is corrective legislation necessarily a bad thing? This has the feel of corrective legislation, to prevent someone from padding the electorate with temporary citizens.
Emphasis mine. Cadence .... any specific ideas? This particular aspect is addressed in part by the census taken one month prior to the elections, but there are other more pedagogical ways of ensuring a sense of citizenship and not political opportunism.

Given a newly launched discussion about laws pertaining to citizenship; I thought I'd bump this thread with it's 17 thoughtful posts.

I've had problems with that. After I marked the posts in this forum as read, it went away.Rosie Gray wrote:I declare that I have read this thread! (Just trying to make it go away as a 'new post'.)
