Exiting the Guess Shop
Guess, the clothes brand, has recently released a clothing line featuring designs from the most famous urban artist in the world, Banksy — who remains pseudonymous. This is strange, since it goes against the well-known position of Banksy on consumerism. On his Instagram official channel, Banksy denounced Guess, said that they’re using his designs without permission, and encouraged fans to shoplift clothes as a form of protest. Guess, in return, counter-claims that they have licensed Banksy’s art from Brandalised, and that inciting people to shoplift is illegal behaviour. Nevertheless, they closed their shop.
