RA Resignation

Post by Publius Crabgrass »

After a lot of reflection I have decided to resign as a member of the RA, effective immediately. I'm not leaving Neufreistadt, but I have found that I have been unable to devote any time beyond the weekly one-hour meetings. I'll do my best to continue to keep the Constitution updated on the wiki, and stay involved as much as I can. But a good representative needs to be able to circulate between the sims, read and regularly post to the forums, and in general have the time to stay in touch with the CDS citizens. RL has intruded upon my ability to do so.

Under Article IV, Section 2, the last election's "ranking is used to select who will receive seats in the RA. If a member retires from the RA, a member with the next highest ranking in the same faction is takes a seat on the RA. "

You ran in an election as your party's candidate and asked for voters to entrust you with their votes. You were elected for a period of 6 months, to which you solemnly commited by oath.

I think you owe to your unwitting succcessor, to your colleagues and voters, and to the CDS as a whole, a more detailed explanation as to the reasons of your departure than a simple "RL has intruded upon my abilities" to be an effective RA member.

I'm sorry to see you go. RL often takes us away from SL and obviously has to come first. I respect your decision. I've come to see you as a serious person who respects the responsibilities associated with elected office; you have clearly considered the matter carefully before coming to your decision.

All the best, Pat

I trust my Simple Party successor won't be quite so unwitting as you may hope, and I'll decline the invitation to regale you with stories of competing and unanticipated demands on my time by employers, spouses and children.
