War in Neualtenburg!!! Is it upon us??

Post by Kendra Bancroft »

My dear friends, I write this missive now from my rat infested prison cell in a remote location someplace in Caledon. I do hope this missive reaches you.

I have been kidnapped.

As Kaiserin von Neualtenburg I ask all my friends to consider joining in our needed reprisal against the hostile nation of Caledon.

I need recruits. We are horribly outnumbered.

Please. If you wish to join our Navy or Airforce contact: Albrecht Hienrichs.

If you wish to join our brave Husar Cavalry contact : Jaeger Edelweiss.

You will be issued a uniform (spiffy one too) and will have to buy a rifle (money goes to RFL charity)

You will be filmed as part of a series of videos to be released later on Youtube --so smile pretty.

I can be contacted by message (goes to my e-mail) but I can't be inworld until I am rescued --for the love of God!

SAVE ME!!!!!!

enlist in the Neualtenburg armed services.

(I must go --my jailer is suspicious)

What to do about the war in Neaultenberg

Post by Samantha Fuller »

Because of past history & the fact that several of the citizens of CDS hold dual citizenship in Caledon. Most Neufreistadt citizens arn't going to have much sympanthy for the Kaiserin despite blood ties. However it might be posible to Bribe Desmond (with a sutibly large sum to go to Relay For Life charity) into sending Kendra here in chains to stand trial [u:3awa79uv]Especialy if Ulrika is captured also.[/u:3awa79uv] :D I have almost compleated renovations on the Schloss (and if the apropiate tectures can be purchased with an donation) it can be finished very quickly and woud be an nice and ironic place to film.

What dose the rest of the comunity think of this.

Here have some rope, its free! :)

Samantha --

I am inclined to agree with your analysis. However, at the moment it appears that Caledon is the aggressor in this war. I expect that the CDS will maintain official neutrality -- although I would be inclined to offer our services as an honest broker to end the hostilities.

Let's keep things simple enough to be fair, substantive enough to be effective, and insightful enough to be good.

I intend to indiscriminately set all involved on fire.

No animosity behind it. It's just what I [i:nlpmtaaj]do[/i:nlpmtaaj].

I think what i proposed was misunderstood. Ive been working on the Schloss and am proud of what I ocomplished and i think it might soon reach a point where it coud be used for the current high quality Machanima project(s). Sudane has indicated that she will soon replace the curent dance balls with upgraded versions, their is no reason that the old ones couden't be taken down a few hours or days earler for filming. and the dance platform coud be used as a airship landing platform. The script coud be tweeked so that the CDS coud be alined with Caledon, Neualtenburg, or as a Netral. for instance if The Kaiserin escapes or is rescued while Neualtenburg is overun by Caledon troups the CDS RA might alow her Santuary at the Schloss because of the UDHR and evedence of torture. She might then set up a goverment in exile there which might be attacked.

However i am keenly aware that the Schloss is'nt my personal property and the genral lack of intrest as well as the chancler's shall we say luke warm response have schoched the idea for now :( perhaps next time.

If however a majority of the RA members and the chanclor decide they like the idea, we might negotiate for a peice of the action.

PS I dont know if it has any bering on the mater or not but it has been aledged to me by someone who shoud know that the Rathus was purchased and paid for but right clicking on it shows it wasen't properly transfered. I don't know if the was a billing despute or if Kendra simply never got around to transfering it. I also don't know if that situation colors our attatudes tword the curent situation. :?

No, no dispute. We just never got around to arranging its transfer with Kendra. Nor, indeed, have we ever arranged a system in which there is someone to transfer it to!

This is certainly as issue with some existing public builds. Sudane's is right, we need to have an AV with a role similar to the one held by the MoCA AV that owns and archives copies of artworks.

Moon and Rose have been working on the IP agreement for transfer of rights and a system for archiving our builds. Really this has to be done through the RA rather than the guild because it concerns official policy and agreements.

I will gladly rescue you, Kendra :) However, you'll have to have me as a mercenary and not a regular... :)

Indeed, there was a slight lull in the war.

Straaangely coinciding with Kendra's contributions and assistance on the Caledon Kittiwickshire sim, but that's Completely Unrelated I assure you...

Our little war might find a rather timely (and Spectacular!) conclusion shortly, but I'll leave that to be revealed in time. :)

Other than that, we aren't terribly warlike, though it would not be completely past me to send 40 mounted Caledon Cavalry galloping through any Ashcroftistan sim that might come about, just for sheer giggle factor.

And I'm dying to see how the Caledon Lettres de Marque I've issued to captains of various friendly, airworthy vessels will be interpreted by his judiciary, should we catch a hostile vessel at altitude - is there a mainland off-surface limit to jurisdiction?

Providing the flaming wreckage didn't fall smack on the lawyers below, of course...

I read some of the Caledon forums, and it seems the foray into Machinima and Role-Play has not been without some controversy though generally positive reactions - how is the participation and "fun factor" in that exercise thus far for the Caledon denizens? ( I do not trust the forums and blogs as true barometers of feeling)

Not that CDS is a RP area or even strongly themed (except in architecture).

I get a rather interesting picture from private IM's and notecards, but realise that what people tell *me* is often just as selective as what might be posted to a forum.

As I see it:

1) As hinted at by the literally dozens motivated enough to blog - LOTS of people are having LOTS of fun! Me included, when I get the chance! Though I can almost never show up for filming times due to either SL land business or first life necessity. Interesting point: note that the community does as it likes, when and how it likes and sometimes I'm told about it, sometimes not! This is wonderful and healthy.

2) Some that would prefer things to be done differently. The pattern I see is this: notes of concern whenever we try something new, so far overwhelmingly followed with 'how can I get in on this???' when that something turns out to be a smashing success. Most notably, Doing Something always turns out better than Standing Around Talking About Doing Something.

3) Many don't participate much or at all, simply because they are doing their own thing, which is fine.

4) It's good to do different stuff; nothing stays interesting and fun permanently. That said, there's some different stuff in the works. :)

5) I personally don't see any reason why you couldn't make films or interact with other groups as the CDS, just as we do with our little micronation state.

6) As an aside, since it began there has been a *strong* interest in Caledon land that has so far blown away anything I've ever seen. The waiting list went from 2 sims long to... well, something monstrous. Seems to be a fun-related factor, especially in light of the fact that the waiting list doesn't get that long unless very, very few people choose to leave (thus no openings to cool off the list).

My guess is that I'll sort of inadequately chase demand until maybe Oct/Nov or so, in which case I'll completely lose control of the situation, even whilst designing sims several at a time. I'm seriously contemplating what the maximum size of Caledon 'should' be, with my own sanity as part of the calculation. Not terribly interested in making Caledon into a Dreamland-sized... thing, nor too interested in starting a different venture.

I'd honestly suggest the CDS folk try some more long term activities, maybe on the order of 10 weeks or whatnot, if looking to have fun, expand and grow.
