Sculpties

Post by Samantha Fuller »

The other day i went to the beata grid to try out the new type of prims specificaly I wanted to find out if standard sculptie shapes coud be streched in one direction only in preperation I downloaded a champhered box sculpt texture. 8) Once on the Beata grid i created a sculptie prim and aplied the texture then tried to strech it in one direction it promptly colapsed into a sphere I tried several times and finaly got a large rectanglar box or so it apeared with the camera zoomed out when i zoomed in it reverted to a sphere agian  and turned back into a rectangle when zooming out, futhermore i coud walk partly into it completly hiding my AV except for a few ribons  I then created a mushroom from a sculpt tex found in my inv libary this had a area on top that raised or flatened when i zoomed out and in, about this time my client started crashing every 2 minuets on imeadate log in it woud claime that the region had begain a restart. At this time i gave up on the Beta grid for a while. :x What are your impresions of the beta sculpties :?:

Here have some rope, its free! :)

Hello Gilde Damen und Herren, nice forum! :D

I also noticed the larger shapes collapsing into a sphere, it must be a bug. I'm not sure if the sculpties are behaving like phantom now, but yes I could stretch it all over my avatar without much reaction. I think you can do that with regular prims too, but maybe it's the sculpties' imperfect collision detection or something. I did [i:2243duty]not[/i:2243duty] notice areas of the sculpties jumping to slightly different positions, maybe it's a side effect of the reduction of vertices. I noticed some 'jumping' on the SL terrain too, when you zoom out. My client didn't crash at all.

My impression is that you can start to work with sculpties on the beta grid, to later make/import them again them to the normal grid, if you really want to surprise someone :-)

In a beta grid sim called "Fame", I found a strange looking [i:qyeyg9s0]1 prim[/i:qyeyg9s0] island, so I claimed it for the CDS right away:

First 'guild approved' sculptie? ;-)

It's not quite gift-ready yet, but this should be the proof that besides wasting a huge amount of time, they're a huge amount of fun too. Please don't ask me 'how-to' .. this was a terrible noobie experience for me :-)
