New Faculty Memberships

Post by Dnate Mars »

According to our charter:[quote:3w3x378t]Membership

Members of the faculty must demonstrate excellence in design and building and / or scripting skills; the ability and willingness to mentor others who want to develop their skills; and the ability to lead substantial multi-person projects. Membership is not limited to citizens of the CDS.

The faculty will elect it’s own members. Becoming a member of the faculty requires meeting one of the certification standards established by the faculty. This will require presenting a portfolio or work and teaching experience; evaluation of that experience by the faculty; and organizing a public presentation of that work. [/quote:3w3x378t]

So, we need to come up with certification standards for new people to join the faculty. I want to make it as easy and as clear as possible for new members to join. I am sort of at a loss for what exactly we should do for this process. Do we want to go with the future cert program that LL in trying to set up? Do we want to have something completely different?

What are your ideas for what we need to do? I would like to have feedback from Guild members, faculty, citizens, non-citizens, and all others.

I would say that those wanting to join the faculty should be prepared to present a portfolio of their work which should show a mastery of the building process. In addition, perhaps at the formal presentation of the portfolio, the candidate should be prepared to describe their experience with and willingness to teach others, on both a group and one on one level. This is by no means a formal proposal but just a few elements that should probably be considered.
