Introduce Yourself!

Post by Bromo Ivory »

I am not sure if this is the right place, I couldn't find a thread that seemed appropriate, so here goes:

I just moved into Neufreistadt last weekend, and my RL wife moved in as well a couple of days ago (I will let her introduce herself). "Refugees from the Mainland"

I discovered SL in January of this year, and in a period involving a lot of learning, exploring (and participating in the building of Quaker Church in Second Life), and getting my feet wet with building, I find myself pulled to the CDS - so I tiered all the way down on the Mainland - and decided to have my "home base" in this place (though I do have some holdings in a friends' sim as well)

The idea of a self perpetuating democratic community of people committed to their community/SIMs in a passionate and vigorous way is highly attractive! And in my explorations I found a group of really cool people who are all very interesting and friendly! I look forward to participating in the future development and expansion of the idea.

Anyway I wanted to introduce myself, Bromo Ivory, as a freshly minted CDS Citizen! Hello Everyone! :D

P.S. : What is the meaning of the multi colored owls below your name? Some sort of rating system? Is there a guide to it? I could not find one.

Hi Bromo!

I'm Brian Livingston, and I've been a resident of the CDS for almost a year and a half, although I have been in Second Life since January of 2004. I first heard about Neufreistadt when it was just a proposal for Neualtenburg in Anzere, but I did not have the time or resources at that point to join the project. Last year, while exploring new places to take pictures, I came to visit Neufreistadt and decided that this was a place I must join. I tend to occupy my time in world wandering abouts, talking to people. I am a member of the faculty of the New Guild and am very much looking forward to helping develop the new sim.

Anywho, That's my introduction I suppose. Again, welcome to the communtiy and if there is anything I can do to help you get situated, just give me a shout :)

Hi everyone!

*hijacks the thread to introduce herself*

My name is Jo Sapeur, I've been a resident in Second Life since September 2005 and I stumbled upon Neufreistadt when I was looking for a place to life at for someone and immediately fell in love with the place. So I got myself a quiet corner in Colonia Nova where I intend to open a small shop sometime in the future... unfortunately I'm pretty busy in SL at the moment, so this might take some time (have a look at the sim "GANC 2" to see what keeps me from opening my shop ^_^ )

Anyway, I'll happily continue to support the CDS since I think that it is a great symbol for the diversity that makes Second Life so enjoyable.

I have now been in Second Life for three months and in Neufreistadt for two. The idea of an alpine town in SL with its own democratic government appealed to me, and I was happy to join it by purchasing some land outside the town off the western road.

There are many things I like about Neufreistadt, especially its overall appearance. There are also things I do not like, but my hope has been that because it is a democratically governed community I would be able to have some influence on it to make it more what I would like in the future.

I am a Swiss-American, a German-speaker originally from the canton of Wallis and live in the state of Colorado.

It looks to me like the owls represent how many posts you have written in the forum.

(with some exceptions for 'special' folks. Ahem.)

I'm Aliasi Stonebender. For the time being, I'm Chancellor of this outfit. I've been in SL for about two and a half years, Nburg/NFS/CDS for most of that time. I was more about the democracy than the Bavarian theme, then and now, but I try to stay quiet for them who do enjoy it. :)

another introduction

Post by Tanoujin Milestone »

Hello everyone,

thanks to Bromo for opening this thread, i would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself as well.

I have been looking for democracy since i stumbled into SL in Jan 07, staggered through tenancy on MG until the sim was closed down and found myself lost in dreams, a "customer" on a hill under the rules of a real estate company.

You see, i am a bit slow... there are so many misleading metaphors... May i grow up now? The blossoms of existencialism have withered ages ago, but IMHO "responsibility" is still a valid concept. This in mind, i directed my feet (size 20) to the CDS.

I am all for economy, because i want to see the worlds connected, people setting purposes, using the environment to achieve something. But if I were asked, i would give education the supremacy - as a key to enable the people to make their decisions and choose their tools. Oh, well, now i have to search the school thread :)

Have a good day, looking forward to meet you inworld. Tan

SL
After some months of orienteering, tough learning and wandering as a hobo in SL's labyrinths i discovered CDS's Sims thanks to a friend and fell in love with Alpine Meadows. My involvment is sometimes high sometimes low, depending on RL's level of madness. In AM i liked the nature, the low lag, the idea of a beautyful SIM which has been built through public debate and therefore cannot be destroyed in a moment of bad mood. I'm also very interested in undestanding how a democratic community works here and how CDS's Sims will expand.

RL
I'm italian, I live in Milan, i'm graduated in architecture, i work in a publishing house, before meeting SL my main hobby was hiking on the Appennines :)))

Mes Cheres Amies, Liebe Freunden, Caro Mio, Dear Friends, Lieve Vrienden……

I already had the honor to meet quit a few of you in CDS . Let me introduce myself a bit more.(with apology when my English is not quite correct) .
After I was born in SL (febr.07) I stayed for a while in a constant state of euphoria ; exploring, learning, even loving and looking foreward to really creating in this new world. I am still exited by its huge communication possibilities and although I cant graps yet all the consequences for myself in SL (as well in RL), my intiuition gives me a positive feeling.
Still in a sort of newbee-state, I am looking foreward to be a creating avatar .Either in physical prims or just by being inworld and providing communication with the skills of Naftali Torok.
So, on my SL queeste I happened to pass along CN to visit the instrumental workshop of AK creations, Alexikon Kurka to order an accordion for my first inworldconcert on bali Hai-Broadway (not the worst place to start a carreer! )
I didnot know that it was possible, they made a video of this first event, its still is in my profile,
(Naf blushes a bit)

Yes I am musician, and however not in the first place here in SL to continue my RLjob, I do play live concerts inworld now and then. It is indeed a great way to communicate. I am looking foreward to realize special projects where my music could support new artforms like the Outsider Art Project in the Colonia Nova gallery. Live improvised music on the paintings of Kim Noble recorded at opening of the the exhibition 14th of december 2007.
( Its still playing on the gallery lot when you visit. I am working on a forumreport of this event.)

I landed finally on Alpine Meadow and I feel happy there ! Being a passionate east-European music lover, I really like the land there and got this idea to build a socalled “Mechana”, a type of village café or coffeehouse with a buildingmodel datet from the ottoman period and spread out wide over the balkans .It is in the Mexana that the villagers discuss life and politics, organize their weddings with live music and dance, clinche the business with a good glass of homemade rakia! More explaination about the progress of this project “Alpine Meadow Mechana” soon on the forum.

As for my political preferences: I am an openminded avatar , rather neutral (as a musician you have to play for many persuasions….) I support this idea of democratic sims very much and I go for cooperation more than concurrence.
Look foreward to meet you all in the “Mechana Monica” and have an interesting talk and a nice glass of wine together!
All souls welcome!

Yours Naftali Torok

Hello everybody, it's time to introduce myself too.

My cyber-name is Alexicon since the 80ties. My SL existence started in March of 2007. I was immediately amazed by the vivid virtual world with deep roots on the earth and heavenly openings to creators. It is revival of the VRML dreams of the end of the previous century, enriched by communicational layers and community building of this century. I am very happy in SL as I can often use many of my skills in the creative processes.

In RL I am an early multimedia professional. At the moment self employed web designer, living with my 7 years old son. As freelancer I have flexible and long working hours sometimes during the weekends. I spend many hours in SL on a regular basis, making musical instruments, animation and gadgets with AK creations. I am also one of the initiators of Outsider Art Projects. One of the nicest parts of the SL experience is the immediacy of contacting people all around the earth.

I embrace the CDS concept with enthusiasm. Although the numbers are not astonishing, the RL world wide spread of the citizens adds an extra dimension in these prototype experiments towards the creation virtual democratic structures. There are many intelligent citizens and amazing creators living on CDS and I'm exited to be here.

Hello everyone. I was born into SL at the end of November 2007. Within ten days I had moved into a house in the corner of Colonia Nova. I was attracted to CDS because of its democratic and cooperative nature. In December I also started a blog: http://dantonsideways.blogspot.com. As a newbie I'm learning my way around, and still doing dumb things. :?

I'm interested in Ivan Illich and the theory of convivial tools, which is a model of development of tools by and for a community. This implies developing tools which are easy for the average person to use (what Norman calls "user-centered design," and others call "usability"). In Second Life I hope to do networking on this topic, and perhaps a demonstration project.

In RL I am an engineer from San Francisco who has been living and working in France for the past twenty years.

Hi There!
Sudane, Gwyn and Patroklus thought this would be a good way to introduce myself to the group. I am a RL phd student in Auckland New Zealand researching SL and I think what you are doing here may be relevant to my interests--I am interested in attitudes towards RL nations and towards SL. I would very much like it if you would take my survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm= ... FTuw_3d_3d

Also, I am hoping to take up residence in one of the CDS sims soon and become a citizen...so please contact me if you are interested in my research or have any suggestions, comments or questions. Thank you :)
Cheers,
archmunster Toll
