'Save the Fog' in Neufreistadt

NB: A picture that apparently isn't representative at all .. just the case for me.

Doesn't that right picture just make you go @#@#(*&!#!?!
Well that's what Neufreistadt currently looks like with LL's new 'WindLight' technology. (You can have a preview with the First Look viewer, its colors make everything look wonderful except NFS)

So you can either lean back, smoke a havanna and see how this works out, or ..
[i:2m7ajx3c]Let the Lindens know that this is important for the character of our sim![/i:2m7ajx3c]

You can let 'm know by

(1) Going to their bug tracker: https://jira.secondlife.com
(2) Log in with usual login/password
(3) Visit the URL with this issue: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-960[/url:2m7ajx3c]
(4) There's room to complain a bit, or do a charm offensive :-) and more importantly ..

[i:2m7ajx3c](5) Press "Vote for it", in the collumn at the left[/i:2m7ajx3c]

C'est ça, fog duty fullfilled.

(But if Arria wants to make a t-shirt or Moon wants to sing a protest song, then I won't stop you ;-) )

I like the fog - both the old & new versions.

But, can you turn the new fog off? Like you can now? If so, it is a non-issue.

You can, but it is not as easy as it was in the past.

What about the shiny parts of the bridge? Did that get mungled up? I have heard the First Look appears to be harmful to shiny textures/coloration on prims...

So does *new* fog/clouds show for you guys? And can it be made to show on land? For me there simply aren't any clouds. In any case, the fog from the picture above is the current situation.

In a related issue[/url:3olv3num] Torley Linden writes that they're thinking about adding a new 3D clouds technology, but that's only for the long term. So if there's no fog (as it seems for me) or if the new fog doesn't show on land, let's vote on VWR-960[/url:3olv3num], to keep the current fog :)

The nonshininess of the shiny is a bug. That should be fixed soon.

Remember, the first look viewer will be around at least a month before they release it into the wild. If there are things that don't work or that you don't like let LL know! Use the JIRA, e-mail them, post in the SL and other forums. Let them know so they can get this release right!

Please vote on this issue: VWR-960 "Classic SL cloud layer should not be removed yet"[/url:z7hvp7bw]

LL is now tracking it under a different number (duplicate report).

Classic case of Ludditism! Before we start lobbying for the "good ol' days", let's see what the issue is!

Windlight is the most incredible visual improvement to come to SL in a year! It far exceeds the advances made last year (I think it was last year) when the new graphics thingies were put in place. The interface allows a huge range of of control of our environment... including dense fog... as per the illustration above. But much much more than this, it allows that fog to be in place for a certain period of the day, perhaps, and then to burn off into a glori0us sunset. Or, perhaps, to get so thick you can hardly see your hand!

You can set the duration of the day, and set the exact weather conditions for any number of moments during that day. You can set the color of the fog from dirty brown smog to a clean clear bluish haze.

And, they promise additions... like rain and snow. They have actually bought the company and the team of people who have developed this software... so I have every reason to believe that features promised will indeed happen.

And..., if perchance someone wants to turn off the fog.... god... why???, we can provide them with a preset, which will provide alternate weather (if we decide to do this... this feature of preset exchange is not yet implemented).

The most important thing not yet implemented is the ability of the Estate Manager to set *everyon'es* weather experience. Currently, you set your own, and only you can see it. Estate wide setting I understand is very close.

I offer one disclaimer regarding my opinions. In a previous lifetime, I designed weather and water environments for a popular simulator product... I was actually one of the gurus in this subject. For me, seeing these weather controls is like "coming home".

I think we haven't seen anything yet! I am terribly excited about this.

Bravo LL... bring one Windlight! The CDS will have some of the best weather in SL, as far as I'm concerned!

Hey I'm not saying [i:3mmd4s5m]kick out the WindLight[/i:3mmd4s5m], I'm saying: either keep the good old fog [i:3mmd4s5m]too[/i:3mmd4s5m] or have something equally good. For me it clearly doesn't work. For you it clearly does. That's great. So, okayy, you're right, I'm wrong ... I should change my vote from 'keep the old thing' to [i:3mmd4s5m]'make it work!'.[/i:3mmd4s5m]

Now I am not able to turn off the fog, perhaps because of the new Windlight?

Sorry, I like the fog in winter but not in the summer. :?

For me it is nice to have sunny weather some of the time. 8)
