Reminder to the RA

Post by Salzie Sachertorte »

You need to set the dates for the upcoming election - as the 15th lies on a Saturday, the period can run either from July 8th - 15th, or the 15th - 22nd.

As many other things hinge on the date of the opening of the polls, you need to set the date ASAP. That is, the date folks need to declare their intentions to run or not run, the date campaigning can begin, the cut-off date for establishing citizenship, etc.

The Guide to Elections 101 has been moved to the CDS homepage and will be revised and sent to all citizens once the dates have been established and the leaders of the current factions give it their blessings.

Er, you should probably check and see if the current factions are viable and if any new ones have arisen.

From Article I, Section 3:

[quote:2ln8y8bg]The Representative Assembly shall serve for a term of six months. New RAs shall take office on 1 February and 1 August.[b:2ln8y8bg] Elections shall be held over a 168 hour period beginning at noon SLT on the Saturday before the 16th of the month prior to the new RAs taking office.[/b:2ln8y8bg] In the event of a server outage which prevents citizens from casting ballots and which lasts more than 12 hours, the Dean of the SC has the authority to adjust or extend the election schedule.
[/quote:2ln8y8bg]

This time around, the Saturday before the 16th is July 14.

Okay - that's a change from the old Elections 101 guide - still, you should like, announce it for those of us who don't keep up to date on that stuff.

Salzie

I think the dates must be 15th to 22nd as per the section of the Constitution quoted by Claude above.

This means that:

[list:23lg3vz8]Faction leaders need to submit a complete list of faction members to the Chancellor and the Dean of the Scientific Council no later than 12 July as per NL 5-18.

The list of citizens eligible to vote must be compiled based on those registered on 17 June as per Article V, Section 3 of the Constitution.[/list:u:23lg3vz8]... and probably some other things I've forgotten :)

Hmm,

Article IV, Sec. 2 states,

[i:1lsb9wzw]No later than 15 days prior to the opening of the polls, faction members will report to the SC Dean their willingness or unwillingness to serve in the RA.[/i:1lsb9wzw]

That would be today? or tommorrow?

So, if you are a member of a faction, you need to report. If I remember right, Gwyn had asked last time that you put "CDS ELECTIONS DECLARATION" in the subject line of the email.
