Re: Democracies need democratic parties

CSDF's resignation, in my opinion, did not really help to serve the CSDF. By quitting from the RA, the CSDF removed the voice of its sizable constituents from the RA. I'm sure this is what you thought was best at the time, but in my humble opinion, it was a mistake. I think this is something members of the CSDF itself realize, which is why it has fielded candidates for the by-elections, instead of sticking to its boycott. (I think the CSDF running for the by-elections is actually good for the CDS, it represents a certain ideology that, if there are enough who support it, *should* be represented in the RA)

Pat, I wonder though, when you say: "We resigned because we thought it was the right thing to do and because [Beathan] and NuCARE had made the RA intolerable for us." What has changed that makes you think it will be more tolerable for the CSDF after the by-elections?

Um ... I don't quite get it - the only thing that has changes in the RA is that CSDF left and the rules of order have changed. Is it now "tolerable" to sit in the RA?

I welcome you guys back, don't get me wrong here, but I do find this a bit confusing.
