Sim Development Schedule (Very Preliminary)

Post by Jon Seattle »

[size=200:3r2nbd21][b:3r2nbd21]Sim Development Schedule (Preliminary)[/b:3r2nbd21][/size:3r2nbd21]

We need get as much done as we can before we get the actual sim. We are going to want to complete the sim without one month, before we have to pay the first month's tier and so the preparation is needed so as to make our work as efficient as we can. This schedule has us completing the preparatory work before September. I've broken this in to a series of milestones.

In general I will post all work as soon as I have it for public comment. This schedule and all work is subject to review by the Guild Faculty. Also I will be setting up workshops in the next couple of weeks for people who want to build.

I'd also note that some promotional materials will have to be produced as construction is underway, ie images and so on. We can likely work with some of the models and create some preliminary materials to make later work easier and potentially start hyping up the sim.

Brian -

Oh yes, Absolutely!

We need to promote this new SIM a LOT specifically as well as CDS in general!

We have a real neat thing going here and not enough know about us - this is a perfect way to go about it!!

I have an alt who owns a lot of unused advertising land. I buy the land and hold it until I can convert it into a larger parcel for resale -- called the "Adlands to Buildings" project on the Mainland.

However, this means that I have 96000 meters or so on the mainland, mostly in small pieces between 16 and 256 meters. I think that we could use this land for a mainland "find a home in the CDS" ad blitz if we want.

Let's keep things simple enough to be fair, substantive enough to be effective, and insightful enough to be good.

Beathan, that gives me an idea...

On the larger plots of land that have yet to be sold or enlarged, what if we were to place a low prim model of one of the model structures when we get some ready, along with some promotional imagery that would serve as a virtual walk-through, an open house of sorts. This may not be the answer, but it's leading to a few interesting ideas I'm going to think about and perhaps post later.

I hope you will excuse my ignorance in this matter but has the 3rd sim actually been given a name yet? If not it seems to me that the naming will be a milestone of which the rest of the project will be very dependent considering that you cannot order a sim without giving it a name?

It's probably for the RA to decide on the process to choose a name but even so I guess it ought to go into the timetable if there is not a name already?

More power to you! I believe there is a similar project, which simply aims to populate the little parcels with trees to give the mainland more vegetation. Did you hear about it?
