A draft 'Government Question Hour Bill' has been posted [url=http://forums.neufreistadt.info/viewtop ... 6:2tsbwyqb]here[/url:2tsbwyqb] on the CSDF sub-forum. It will be discussed on Thursday at our regular weekly CSDF meeting at 3pm in The Red House on the Lowland Road, (Neufreistadt 123, 33). I am posting it here so that others have a chance to comment.

The text of the Bill to be presented to the RA is copied below. It has not changed since the original was posted on the CSDF sub-forum.

[i:38nv5v28][b:38nv5v28]Government Question Hour Bill[/b:38nv5v28][/i:38nv5v28]

[i:38nv5v28]Rationale:[/i:38nv5v28]
In order to make the government more accessible this Bill establishes an informal Government Question Hour with at least one government 'official' present each week. These meetings will be open to all CDS residents to come and ask questions. The hours will rotate to suit the RL hours of our community.

[list:38nv5v28]1. The Executive Branch is charged with establishing a weekly Goverment Question Hour. All members of the government (Executive, Legislative and Philosophical branches) will be invited to attend with at least one official attending each week.

2. The Executive Branch is charged with facilitating representation from all three branches at least once a month.

3. The Executive Branch will rotate the hours of the Government Question Hour to take into account the different time zones of the CDS community and to ensure representation from the different branches of government.

4. Meetings will be chaired by (one of) the official(s) present and will be open to all citizens to attend.[/list:u:38nv5v28]

As this Bill will increase openness, accountability, participation and accountablilty in our democratic system of governance and thus increase its legitimacy with our citizens, CARE will fully support it.

I have to tip my hat to the CSDF for it's transparency and willingness to keep all aspects open to citizen involvment. This is a great bill. I do very much like question period in the Canadian and British Parliaments. I can assure you that the US political landscape would look very different if a question period were in place here.
