I've found some of the historical comments here helpful.
I have participated in the Guild for a few months. One topic was how CDS should deal with contributing artisans, and how backups and rights for created community objects should be held. We had an enlightening, but sometimes intense, discussion.
At one point some of us felt that the Guild might have a proper role in owning and controlling those objects for CDS.
But as Jon Seattle points out below, the Guild is artisanal. Let them be artists. If there are decisions about the risks and opportunities associated with CDS "public property", better for the RA to handle that sort of thing. We are lucky to have folks like Dnate, Moon, Jon and Samantha to contribute their educational and artistic talents.
Another thing we've learned: personal control points over community property should be created only very carefully and sparingly. Surely NFS, of all places, understands that.
