J’ACCUSE Des Shang of Violating Our Laws and Sovereignty!

Post by michelmanen »

Yesterday, 11 August 2007, witnessed an act which shall live in infamy in the annals of SL history: the invasion and desecration of one of our community’s most hallowed halls by the leader of a foreign power and his subjects.

And no one told me??? I could have autorized the party, given them L$500 in event support and everyone would have been happy.

I was not amused at all - and in fact a few (non participating) Caledonian friends of mine found out about it, too. Not sure the long term reaction, but they were disappointed in Desmond.

grins

You, sir, 'get it' :)

* * * * *

The entire Caledon group chat channel was in on this - believe me, had I given in to the general reaction the entire meeting room would have been redecorated - in pink. :)

If one prim must be taken so seriously, then by all means, bring me to trial! (I'll show if I can, I'm most regularly on about 12pm SLT when I can be on).

Failing that, I'll see if I can find representation, if that's allowed. My plea is 'not guilty' in spite of the overwhelming evidence against me.

What could happen in a trial, anyway?

1. The CDS could test its criminal justice system in a rather boring, but ordinary manner

2. The CDS could take this far too seriously, thus becoming the laughingstock of the grid

3. The CDS could declare me Honourary Queen

4. The CDS could declare the War of the Single Prims, and leave one prim of their own in Caledon (but do tell us where you left it, we are over 1 million square meters and such a thing would be easily overlooked for months)

5. The CDS could ignore the whole thing (what I'm expecting, but really, you are missing out if you do)

Egads, publicitywise for the CDS, I deserve a bearhug!

Desmond -

Ignoring is the right path - the act was immature and silly (and to what end?)- and I am surprised that you felt the need - but you did have 25 or so of your "inner circle" with you. (It reminded me of the machinima you staged in Caledon)

Hope you guys had fun.

Actually --

It is nice to see such a crowd in the Praetorium.

As we do not have a criminal justice system -- never got passed the raw proposal stage -- criminal prosecution is out. Further, I would think that littering would never be a serious offense. Conspiracy to commit littering, however, might be more serious. ;-)

Further, unlike threatening to report civic leaders to the Lindens for engaging in their offices or roles -- and unlike the destruction of public buildings -- this childish dropping of prims is not a threat to our sovereignty. Our project, although precarious in the face of real powers such as the Lindens and RL governments -- is of stronger stuff than can be threatened by an ordinary SL avatar -- or even another SL state.

Let's keep things simple enough to be fair, substantive enough to be effective, and insightful enough to be good.

Actually, it wasn't any 'inner circle' at all, it was anyone who wanted a teleport at that hour on the Caledon group channel, after the fact.

With the grid so relatively eventless - pretty much *anything* will pass for a curiosity! It was a bit of fun, actually.

It was late, SL time. Had such shenanigans gone on during say, a Friday evening for the United States we would have packed the sim, but at that point someone probably would have gotten carried away and it would have got icky.

Immature and silly indeed - but! My gift to you. Should you ever work up a criminal justice system, a penal code or whatnot, rest assured I shall seek counsel and plead my innocence before the court.

A show trial with gridwide coverage - one you stand a 99.9% chance of winning - it's the moment sooo many have been waiting for! For what's the point of having criminal code without, well... criminals.

Perhaps I'll seek diplomatic immunity afterwards, and forever onwards abuse the privilege by double-parking my carriage in front of any United Micronations you might someday host!

I dunno, perhaps this is just my not fully taking in the complexity of the situation, but I found this to be mildly amusing. The whole point of this cherade was to try to push the buttons of our community with perhaps the most innocuous of actions, the leaving behind of a prim. As in virtually every situation, the actions must be compared with the motive, and in this case it was certainly one of good-nautred prodding, not malicious and destructive vandalism.

*shrug* I dunno, I chuckled and I live next to the place. If this is our biggest problem that we deal with this term, this week, or even just today, than we should feel pretty lucky.

Ah, yes. Michel sent me a port to the dog and pony show. I shrugged - while I remain an estate manager for the moment, it was hardly a griefing action worthy of note. I did note that perhaps I should prove the truth of Michel's "oligarchy" accusation and hit the "Send all avatars home" button, but in the end I went about my business (ex-chancellor, after all!) and told Desmond to clean up when done or I'd sic a self-replicating Bananaphone on Caledon.

That wouldn't be any official CDS action, mind you. That would just be me doing it for the hell of it, and I would of course build generation limits into it to prevent it from actually crashing the sim, because I'm a responsible prankster like that...

... but I'm not doing that, as implied. No more prim, after all!

Bananaphone!

Yes Aliasi you left waaay too fast. It's been ages! I wanted to catch up!

On another level, if ignoring a random cube was the 'finest hour' for this week or this term... that's sort of melancholy isn't it?

Next time we go flashmobbing, the CDS is invited.

You had the misfortune of doing it when I had an early shift on the morrow. But if I'm on, I'm IM-able, if you're curious.
