Apology

Post by Patroklus Murakami »

I would like to apologise to ThePrincess and the wider CDS community for my part in yesterday's spat at the RA meeting (the transcript will be posted in the next day or so). ThePrincess and I got into a silly dispute in IM which spilled over and disrupted a portion of the meeting. Feelings were clearly injured on both sides so I'd like to apologise to ThePrincess for any upset caused.

If it would help, I'd be happy to publish the IMs between ThePrincess and me provided ThePrincess gives her consent. That would help to scotch the inevitable rumours about what was said by who to whom and some of the wilder accusations being made.

Finally, I'd like to appeal to everyone else to avoid the temptation to fan the flames or seek political advantage out of our argument. Neither of us came out of it looking particularly good and the sooner we move on the better.

Pat -

I can agree with that - and from reviewing all comments (mine, yours, others) it got political as well - which should not have happened and was not my intent. So I apologize for my accidental role in flame fanning. (I just wanted the whole thing to stop and to not have it get out of hand again)

I personally think that we are best putting this whole incident behind us and concentrating on making the RA more constructive going forward!

(So I will refrain from putting forward the non-binding resolution I mentioned in the meeting unless others felt it would help to make a public pledge to CDS by the RA)

I was going to apologize for missing the RA meeting; I am on a road trip with my bad back (and inlaws) and was lying prone in my father-in-law's car, without internet access, at the time. However, despite my curiosity about the spat, I am rather glad I missed it.

Let's keep things simple enough to be fair, substantive enough to be effective, and insightful enough to be good.
