The following is an very initial first draft -- and of course I have no idea if I will get to take part in the eventual project, but in any case this is a good place to start thinking about the new site. This is missing some detail -- most you can guess from the list posted earlier.
Spotlights (there are several here: events, NGOs, businesses, places, history) are small "news flash" sorts of items with an image and a paragraph. The idea is that one appears at a time, and the one that visible may change when you reload the page.
Not all events (just the three or so most current) will appear on the home page. The visitor will have to click to get to the full events calendar. Please feel free to comment. As before, I will be glad to incorporate suggestions.
