Storytelling Comes to CDS September 15

Post by Rose Springvale »

On September 15, Gilbert Sapwood, leader of the Storyteller's Guild in SL, and a professional storyteller in RL will be giving two performances in the CDS... 1pm slt in the Schloss, and 6 pm slt at the CN Amphitheater.

Both shows will be the same, scheduled to accomodate EU and US audiences. Mr. Sapwood will present approximately 45 minutes of fairy tales, with a Grimms brothers theme (he'll provide me with details which i will post closer to the event.)

This is something fairly new in SL.. a blending of low tech folklore with the high tech of SL... and is growing very quickly. It has the potential of exposing the sims to a whole new group of people and would be a very good event for us to be able to host on a regular basis... distinctive, yet popular. And, at least so far, much less expensive than musicians.

I'd appreciate as many citizens as possible to try to attend one or the other event, and give me some feedback on whether it is something you enjoy. That will help me determine if I should try to engage Mr. Sapwood or other members of the Guild again.

Thanks for arranging this, Rose. It sounds like a lot of fun, and an innovative use of our space. I hope to join you there.

The second part of this sucessful event (lots of non citizens attended) moved back to the Schloss due to terrible lag at CN

Yes :D .
I had a great pleasure to hear the stories. The quality of this performance was very good.

Nope.
I really appreciate it that you're organising all these things, and Gilbert gave a very good performance, but it's not my 'kinda thing'. (My kinda thing would be a discussion or a lecture. And the Oktoberfest is great too of course.)

Thanks for your input Arria and Sleazy. Sleazy, if you have topics or speakers you'd like to see, please let me know. Or better yet, host them :)

Hi Rose, it doesn't matter much what [i:2dfzexyh]I[/i:2dfzexyh] want. I'm happy you're organising things. If you choose something, something that serves the PIO purpose well would be a good choice. I think the Oktoberfest is a great for that -- by the way, let's ask Moon for those CDS info signs.

I like the idea of storytelling. It is a very important skill and artform that is too often missed in the modern world. It has been interesting to see things on the internet, and now SL, revive or cause to proliferate both new and traditional art forms.

I would like to see more of things like that, in other words! :)
