Volunteers to keep http://slcds.info updated?...

Post by Gwyneth Llewelyn »

Dear all,

As some of you might have noticed, we have a pretty unused CDS blog at http://slcds.info/

Now, there is a Portal Committee discussing the next stage of unifying all the many sites and tools under the same technology. This is a Very Long Term Project, assuming that it'll start from scratch and mostly ignore the work previously done by the previous working groups (Pendari Lorentz, myself, and Claude Desmoulins). And it'll take many months of patient, volunteer development, so it's not something that should be "finished soon" but rather something to aim for, say, 2009 or 2010 :)

In the mean time, there certainly are people interested in keeping the information about the CDS up to date. With the third sim coming in, it makes less and less sense to focus on http://neufreistadt.info/ (or the even less updated http://colonianova.wordpress.com/ blog) and instead move to something easier to use and more flexible and that applies to the whole CDS, not individual sims. Also, something that can be nicely exported to whatever platform we might use in the future.

So if there are any volunteers for writing some things, please let me know, so that I can create you an account for http://slcds.info/. The few that I've asked, who are good writers and have a knack for keeping people informed, are sadly also too busy with too many projects. But I have asked very few people! So I'm posting this here, in the hope to get a few more volunteers ;)

Remember that everything written today will be easily exported to the future CDS Portal — nothing will be wasted that way!

Just let me know — or sign up on http://slcds.info/, I'll be updating your profile to "author" instead of merely "commenter", and then you can start to add your own articles there :)

Thanks in advance!

- Gwyn
