First round of thank yous...

Post by Rose Springvale »

We had 46 REALLY COOL donations, and unspeakable volunteer hours for the Second Annual New Guild Fundraising Auction which is at this writing STILL GOING ON... and there will be quite a few more hours put in before we can close the books on this one. I'll take this opportunity to give well deserved thanks to some of the most creative and hardest working people i've known in sl or rl:

Moon Adamant, for your light hand steering and your flexibility and outright skill in building, teaching and art! HINT: if you have NOT seen the 5 plate series of collages, based on the Keats poem "Ode on a Grecian Urn," you are missing something very special. The 5 are displayed just before the bridge to the monastery (bidding still open :)

AND! sign for Locus Amoenus...the name chosen by our RA for Sim 4. It means "Pleasant Place" and it will be thanks to Moon and her team in the New Guild!

Satir DeCuir, aka the Permission Police, who worked tireless hours for CDS helping on everything from invitations, to gathering and photographing donations, setting auction scripts, building the dance platform at the very last minute, and low prim! and then making sure all the donation boxes were set where they needed to be .. all the while looking longingly at her paying work ... like so many other people who set aside their real or second lives for the good of the CDS...(another hint... she's got a morrocan dining set in the auction that is really stunning.. along the road between the art and the bridge!)

Cindy Ecksol, for being THE go to person when it comes to getting things done... we have Cindy to thank for our Guild tshirt/button donation boxes (as well as the shirts and buttons), not to mention her wilingness to dig in and do the minutia with joie de vivre (is that right?) and wit... my hint here is Cindy's creation of the Sexy Bartendar (at the corner on the way down the mountain near the monastery bridge) HE is magical in more ways than one....

Sudane Erato, forever after known as Queen Ant, for taking a silly idea and turning it into what I think are the most original SL invitations since the Inaugural ball champagne.. (also Sudane's creation) If you did NOT open the invitation I dropped on you Thursday night,(everyone on the citizens list got one) go dig it out of your inventory and rez it someplace... (all my CDS land is open and there are prims available.. park or playground in CN are good places.. just clean up after yourself!) Sudane is also the mastermind behind the Old Marble bathtub, shower and Pub set (combine that with the waiter, the music, the dance animations.. well.. there's a whole businesss on those hillsides if you want one!) Also, thanks for suggesting big band music, it was perfect for this event!

Symo Kurka, Pip Torok and Naftali Torok, who graciously allowed us to invade the Old Bowl, and even nudge a dance floor up next to it, along with hours of meetings, collection of donations and dealing with my nerves... They all have cool donations on the mountain too, but i'm not spoiling ALL the fun here... {smile} I'll publish a catalog of the donations soon.(but you can buy an hour of Naftali LIVE! )

Arria Perreault for letting us invade the Monastery with the General Master Plan (please go take the survey!!)

Danton Sideways, Feminist Expedition, Ludo Merit all gave hours in committee helping to brainstorm this event, and there are at least fifty other names i will publish with the final report, including donors, committee members, friends who kept me from alcoholism...(so far) but the point is that this is NOT Rose's auction....nor just the New Guild's auction, this is the CDS at its best. It is really overwhelming what you all do ... and it is the teamwork and the comeraderie that comes from working together on positive things that makes this community different and very special. Thank you for letting me be part of it.
