With the semi-regular football games in the CDS, I wonder if it would be nice to join this group officially?

Brian is the Captain of the CDS Footbal Club... and he has a uniform for you Gwyneth....
Interesting. I joined today as a player and have a request in to learn more about adding our F.C. to the roster. Joining a league would provide greater visibility for our sims, as well as serving as a fun series of events that wouldn't cost the community a dime.
That being said, it appears that the "official" stadium is a 100x100m in size, which certainly wouldn't fit beneath the platz. However, it seems that you can use a different sized field, as there is talk of different stadium sizes on the Second Football forums.
When I learn more, I'll update this post.

If we join that league it looks like we can play the national teams of Luxemburg, Portugal, Serbia, and Stuttgart.
Can someone tell me more about the CDS football team. I joined the in-world group, but haven't heard anything.
Do you need players, or people to cheer?
Grey, right now we are out of season for football. The soccer field has been converted to a hockey rink for winter, and I think practicing football there could be dangerous as well as cold.
This is not to say we could not go to some warmer sim with a football field and practice there, but so far I have not heard of anybody organising anything like that.
Indeed, the football season in the CDS traditionally coincides with Oktoberfest. However, if there is interest, we could always start a spring season as soon as the ice thaws.
A quick proposal for scheduling would be weekly matches, with a round robin schedule.
Week 1:
CN v. NFS
AM v. LA
Week 2:
AM v. NFS
CN v. LA
Week 3:
LA v. NFS
CN v. AM
Week 4: Semi-Finals
1st place v. 4th place
2nd place v. 3rd place
Week 5: Finals
we could have a hockey league too.. sigh. I don't think anyone even played on the ice!
but do remember we haven't had the Caledon invitational yet either!
