Altstadt goes on sale tomorrow

Post by Jamie Palisades »

Five residential Altstadt Neufreistadt lots go on sale tomorrow (Wednesday) approximately at noon SLT.
Residential is a zoning class, but does not prohibit stores or offices.
As usual, we use the (low) official prices for selling government-reclaimed land.
Map below: these lots are marked in purple. Four 320 m2 lots and one 384 m2 lot, suitable for city-type fachwerken or similar.
If anyone is interested but is concerned about finding suitable low-prim *buildings*, see me please, we can help.

Open sale, by yellow-map Linden software-supported direct sale. (You click, you pay, it's yours.)
The NFS covenants apply, obviously. See http://portal.slcds.info/index.php?id=covenant
These are within Neufreistadt "Zone I". Please do take a quick look, because among other things, there are style restrictions .. and a maximum cap for ownership of multiple lots within NFS and within the city walls. That's how we keep NFS handsome .. and available to all.

We will see what results we get from the "box office" approach here, and use that in our collective evaluation of future methods :D
For other related land activity, see here: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2272

Wonderful news! It's refreshing to read about Bavarian plots for sale in the CDS today, especially since they are inside the walls of the beautiful capital area. Let's hope we will get new people into our community with help of this move.

We have a special infohub place called Anzere that has same style as Neufreistadt. What shall people do if they like its style and would like to buy land in similar environment? Maybe they read information about our place, teleport here, and check the yellow areas in the map. Depending on how they feel about the Roman area they will probably either settle there or become disappointed and start looking for something else (and we lose a potential new citizen).

This is really a great help for the problem of demand and supply of our very first theme! Hooray!!! :D

Hello from my exile,
these lots will not last long! Using Anzere to sell Roman, Greek lots is a form of bait and switch. Went through this process buying a car. Went in to the dealer to buy a small car (the good fuel economy kind) with all of the extras and was shown the larger ones. Kept telling this chap had no interest in the car.
I went away in disgust until finding a dealer that would work with me.
What is also troubling is allowing skypads. Current citizens are going to buy these lots and then use the prims on their sky pads adding nothing to the sim.

Thanks, Timo. Only one lot of the five left.
Hi there, exile, we miss you. I think your point about Anzere is worth some thought, thanks; while it's historically related to the original build, for good reasons, perhaps we should clearly telling people there that we have the other theme as well. We hope to have a workgroup put more effort into Anzere, if I'm still involved next term. Quite a few plans have been discussed, just wasn't the top priority this term.
However, if you mean the Roman theme originally was a mistake, well :) i disagree, but either way I think CDS is committed to it now. Our land planning process permits multiple themes to co-exist happily, and it''s my hope that we will continue to leverage that.
Skypads - another good point. I worry as well about the development of prim lots and skylots in CDS, where the ground's empty. You can see some chat about that elsewhere in this Sim & City Planning board; we might yet want to go back and re-examine our covenants about that problem.
Regards Jamie

What if they do not want a Roman, Greek or other such theme? Your efforts are not really showing what is available. Again the CDS is spreading itself thin. How many sims does Desmond have now all directly related to the prime Caledon theme? Like Victorian Steampunk or not all of the Caledon Sims have a very consistent theme and quality. When it comes to themed sims, Caledon is the best in Second Life in all aspects and that is not lip service! Poor Neuf sits on top with a downhill ski course and then out of nowhere comes half empty Roman sims. The changeover hurts the eyes and senses. The signs in Alpine Meadows are in poor taste with the theme, they clash.
The German Alpine theme is the one advertised but you are making non Alpine Sims. So if a potential citizen wants a Alpine lot you try to sell them a Roman one! Like that jerk trying to sell me a large car without a navigation system. So, the person says I want a German Alpine one and they get told it is the Roman or Greek one or nothing? Are they told they are "insensitive" and must embrace something they do not want? What makes Second Life special is not having to accept things we do not want.
Am not so sure about Democracy and second life. A good definition of democracy is two wolfs and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner ;)
