Saturday: Skiing,Singer, Aphrodite/ Inaugural Ball...

Post by Rose Springvale »

As part of the Grand Tour Second Edition, CDS will hold two events on Saturday, February 14.

Alpine Meadow will be the first stop for the tour. Thanks to some creative work from several citizens, we will have a ski party in Alpine Meadow, beginning at 8:30 am. Ski vendors with custom CDS skis (hopefully) will be available at the trail head. At 8:45, The Professor (Professor Beliveau.) will perform. In rl, Professor Beliveau teaches field research in virtual worlds for Bradley University. He is a singer/songwriter who has played inworld since March, 2007 featuring a mix of covers and original material. His playlist reaches nearly 200 songs including 15 original tunes (and growing). the Professor is a sucker for a strong melody and great lyrics. His favorite professional artists include James Taylor, Kenny Loggins, Norah Jones, Dixie Chicks, Indigo Girls, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon (although as a listener, he enjoys Jazz and other popular music forms). His inworld group is called "the Professor's Posse." and he should be perfect for an "apres ski" party, hosted at the Old Bowl Amphitheater, thanks to the AMUA group.

The second stop will be at noon SLT in Colonia Nova, though i've yet to work out exactly where it will be held. This will be a combined Offering to Aphrodite Ball, and the official reschedule of our ill fated Inaugural ball.(Which means we will try once again to introduce the new administration of CDS, and possibly have visiting dignitaries.) DJ Skua Brown will play Roman Valentine music.... guess we'll all have to see what that turns out to be. If you have requests, feel free to send them to me and i'll forward them on.

As of this posting, there are 18 different venues participating in the Grand Tour. Because of some confusion traveling from sim to sim last time, they are asking that we provide 1-3 people who will attend at least the end of the event previous to ours and usher people to our venue. Obviously our first event won't need anyone, but the second one follows the "tiny" ball in Caledon. This might be a fun challenge.... If anyone would like to volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible. It is NOT required that you be in tiny form, but you are welcome to if you'd like.

We will be setting up this week, if you have ideas on decor, please let me know. Come out and support the CDS, and make some new friends at other venues as well. This is a great way to introduce other active sl residents to what CDS offers.

Thanks
Rose

Thanks Rose.

Having guides to help people get from one location to the next is a very good idea!

I will volunteer to be a guide. I'm not so small as a tiny, but could maybe find a Snow White dress. :)

To entertain people in Colonia Nova we could maybe hold gladiator battles in the Amphitheater, or maybe even a special meeting of the Representative Assembly.:o
Other ideas could be ice skating on the river(s) or a gathering and open discussion in the community bath. One possible topic could be the economics of monarchial rule.

Thanks Sonja, you are on the list :)

Those are great ideas, but we are kind of tied into a dance for this one. Just trying to figure out where the best place to have it will be :)

I have announced that the Monastery will open its new exhibition for the Grand Tour. We are working hard now and it will be ready. I will also offer guided tours at a time convenient for the general program. Title is "romantic" and content is a surprise.
Please add it to the official program and tell me the best time for the guided tour(s).

The Grand Tour has now added an event at the Monastery to tour the "romantic" exhibit on Sunday, February 14 at 10 a.m. The tour stop will last one hour (unless Arria wishes to start it earlier). I know this conflicts with the RA meeting, but the exhibit will be open on Saturday during the ski event too, so hopefully people involved in RA will be able to visit it then, or later. I assume the exhibit will be on display for a few weeks.

Since the Skiing event will be spread literally all over the mountain, it would be great to have several CDS volunteers available at the various places.. top of the mountain, end of the run, theater and monastery.. to answer questions and show our visitors where to go. Arria may also need volunteers for Sunday. Please let us know if we can count on you!
