Hello :-)

Post by Ashcroft Burnham »

I have just become a citizen of this wonderful community beacause the idea of a self-governing community in a virtual world intrigues me; I attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Representative Assembly this morning, and was very impressed with the ceremony and the procedures. It really is fascinating to see democracy in action in this way, and everyone has been so terribly friendly :-)

One small question: I have bought the land on 1415 Ulrikastrasse, and put a Fatchwerk there, but I am not sure where to obtain the little signs that the city planning regulations require with the street number on them - where do I get one of those?

Thank you to all those to whom I have spoken for being so welcoming :-)

Oh... one of the many shortcomings in our system. Neufreistadt is famous for being proud of its many documents and procedures... but so many of them are overlooked.... mostly because those who would be in a position to implement those procedures are overworked... or distracted. :)

Originally, all the streets and buildings had such signage. The only problem was... they were all created by Ulrika Zugzwang, who placed them conscientiously, but neglected to set permissions on them so that others could replace them when buildings changed, streets re-oriented, etc. During the spring, all property owned by her was removed by her, so at that point we had no signage. It has not yet been high enough on the list of priorities that new signage be developed.

Hint... hint... :)... anyone wishing to volunteer to create new signage for the streets, buildings and roads of Neufreistadt, please speak up! There's so much to do!

Welcome, Tad. It's always good to have new citizens. I'll do my best not to call you "Ted" in the future ;-)

All the streets are named after some of the original founding members of the city, or people who helped. One was indeed named that.
