CDS 5th Anniversary year, and May day

As you know, September 20, 2009 marks the 5th anniversary of CDS! As usual, the date coincides with the beginning of the traditional Oktoberfest, so we will be planning special events as part of that. But 5 years is a long time in Cyberspace, and deserves more attention than just one party!

We'd like to see the Anniversary celebrated for several months and we are looking for ideas! May 1 is a special day for many people: it is International Workers (Labor) day in some countries, Festival of Flora in ancient rome, Walpurgis Night in Germanic countries, and Law Day in the United States.

We've been approached by Prim Perfect Magazine in world to be a featured story in May (and if we can find the right property, the Sim of the Month!). I'd like to see us use this opportunity to springboard our Anniversary Celebrations... but I need your help with ideas! I'd like to see us do more than the usual ball or party.. perhaps a speaker series on virutal democracy, a display of photos marking time,etc. Do you have suggestions?

Thanks for getting this thinking and planning started, Rose.

One thing I would like to do is try work together with other sims that have Oktoberfest celebrations. Maybe there could be a "Second Life Oktoberfest Tour."

I also hope we will have the parade again. It was fun!

CDS will be featured in Prim Perfect magazine as Sim of the month for the month of May. Thanks to work from Sudane, Jamie and Satir, we've located land and places a house in the valley in NFS for designers Leyla Firefly and Luna Cartier from Belle Belle furnishings to decorate. Prim Perfect will have some sort of "hunt" in their magazine, the winner of the hunt will be allowed to live in the house for one month and gets to keep the furnishings when the month is over. Perhaps we'll even get a new resident!

If you are interested in advertising in this issue, contact Saffia Widdershins directly; she'll put you in touch with the appropriate representative and advise of any discounted rates they will be offering us. Be sure to identify yourself as CDS residents!

They will also be looking for people to interview for their article. If you'd like to be considered, send me a note and i'll pass on a list of names to Saffia. She doesn't just want government officials!
