I ask kindly Soro Dagostino as LRA to call a RA meeting the 7th June for the Monastery item.
Reason: deadline of the 1st July to get homestead sims for a cheaper price.

I'll add my request to yours, Arria. We are on a deadline here, and, as far as I was concerned, everything was ready for a ratification. Please ... PLEASE ... let's not "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" as someone quipped.
And if by chance Soro can't make it, I'd like to ask his deputy Cindy to stand by.

Sorry, but I am in a class most of the day next Sunday so cannot stand in for Soro or even attend a meeting.

Re: Call for a RA meeting the 7th June
I request that we have an RA meeting on Sunday, June 7.
The following week, on the 14th, I will be in a class. If an RA meeting is held on the 14th, I request a 7-day vote for bills voted on in that meeting.

Cindy -- we will need a recorder. Can you arrange for that to be present with instructions as to its use?
Thanks.

Re: Call for a RA meeting the 7th June
Cindy's response that she referred to just above this was posted in a part of the Forum where discussion is not allowed, so I will give my response to that post here. What she posted there was:
Cindy Ecksol wrote:I'm sorry, but I am strongly opposed to a meeting being called with an agenda this momentus and with so little advance notice. There is no evidence that there will be a quorum, and even if there is, several of us will be requesting 7 day vote, so it is unlikely that any decisions will be made on the agenda proposed.
I am also unaware of any section of the Code or Constitution that requires anything other than regularly scheduled meetings of the RA. And scheduling a meeting of the RA is something that by custom is done by consent of the majority of RA members present at a regular meeting. Aside from a request on the forum by a non-RA member for a meeting, and the echoing request of a single RA member, I do not recall any kind of poll, and am only aware of two members (now three including Soro) who said they would be willing to attend such a meeting. Unless someone can identify a section of the Code that allows calling of an RA meeting with less than 48 hours notice, it seems likely that any action taken at such a meeting could face a Constitutional challenge.
There is nothing on this agenda that needs to be decided this week, and in any case it seems unlikely that anything CAN be decided, so I respectfully ask that Soro withdraw the call for a meeting this week and defer the agenda until next week's regularly scheduled meeting.
Cindy
For me what is unusual is not for us to be having so many RA Meetings, but for us to be having so few of them.
Until this term we always had RA meetings on a weekly basis. At the beginning of this term there was no urgent business on hand, and it was decided the RA would move to meeting once every two weeks. At that time we also agreed if the RA became more busy we could again hold weekly meetings or special meetings as needed. I believe Cindy is correct in saying there is no section of the Legal Code or Constitution that requires us to have a meeting of the Representative Assembly. However, we are representatives of the citizens, and when there is an issue of importance to the community I think it is good for us to have a meeting to talk about it. Within the topics for this meeting is an upcoming deadline set by Linden Lab. If or how we choose to respond to this deadline is one of the issues we could talk about.
The agenda of the meeting is to be found here: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2451
Naturally if we do not get a quorum at the meeting then we do not. This is always the case with any RA Meeting.
Cindy has let us know she can not attend this meeting, which I understand and find relatively normal. I wish she could be there, but sometimes other things come in-between (I myself will not be able to attend the next meeting in a week's time). If any vote is taken, Cindy will correctly retain the right to add her vote any time within the next seven days after this meeting.
Personally I see no reason not to hold this meeting, and several reasons to hold it. Thank you to the Leader of the RA Soro Dagostino for being responsive to the requests for having one.
