Sandbox on CN

Post by Sudane Erato »

The Guild has asked me to investiagate how we might use the prims sitting unused on "Land For Sale" on CN for sandbox activities. Here are the proposals.

First, let me say that the priority for these unused parcels is to sell them. I am quite adamant that anything we do in this proposal not interfere with the process by which an interested buyer might come along and buy one. For this reason, it's possible that, should the sandbox become very loaded, and a buyer actually buy one of the parcels, sandbox prims might get returned. This is a risk that I assume we take.

The parcels for sale are owned by Rudeen, so that when they sell, the funds go directly into the community account (which is Rudeen). The only way to share prims is among parcels with the same owner. The curent sandbox area is owned by the CDS New Guild Resources. Accordingly, I propose that the existing CDS New Guild Resources parcels be repossessed by Rudeen, so that she is the owner of them as well.

Then, she will set *all* these parcels to the CDS New Guild Resources. In addition, she will set the "Create Objects" setting on the existing CDS New Guild Resources parcels to "Group", unchecking "All Residents". Finally, all parcels will be set to autoreturn in one minute.

What this should do is to pool all the prims on all parcels owned by Rudeen. Public land should be owned by either Land verwaltung or Colonia Nova, and so should not be affected. Only members of the group should be able to rez things on the designated parcels, IF they are wearing their CDS New Guild Resources group tag. That will prevent the prim from being autoreturned.

Autoreturn will not, in this case clear the sandbox, as it does in most sandboxes. Citizens will need to be responsible and clear their own prims.

I trust this will meet the request that the Guild has made. Before I set autoreturn, *ALL* prims on the eisting sandbox parcels will need to be "Set To Group" by their owners.

Great idea indeed! We should always provide facilities for builders among us.

Should we open enrollment in New Guild Resources then? My recollection is that it is a by invitation only group...

is there a way we can offer this opportunity though group roles in the CDS group? We use up so many group slots already with CDS... would be great if we could find ways around this.

If you do open enrollment, then anyone in SL could join the group and build there. It really wouldn't be so hard to have a resident ask Moon or Jon or any other New Guild member for an invite.

But I agree about the groups. Maybe one of our more general groups could be used instead. Indeed, I myself don't have space for New Guild Resources... (Rudeen does, though).

Yes, if what we want is a private sandbox, we don't want open enrollment. I'm just pretty sure most of our newer people... and ones more likely to use sandboxes, aren't in NGR. I don't have room for another group either and had to drop NGR a while back (and i think i created it!)
