CDS Anniversary/Oktoberfest Parade EDIT DATE: Sept 20, 2009

Post by Rose Springvale »

Yes, we are having the Bierwagen Parade this year! The parade is a scripted "tour" so once we have vehicles together, we simply hop on the engine and it makes a nice smooth route across our sims.

Here are the guidelines:

1. Faithful to our history, entries will build on a base structure of a fine old NFS beer wagon, horse drawn. We will provide a full mod cart, you decorate with
transferable prims, and (c) we will set it up to follow the tour route. (The Rose Parade in Pasadena does it with Ford trucks. For Pooram in Tiru-Shiva-Piru they use elephants. This is the 5th anniversary of CDS, and we're using a bierwagen. Beer is optional.) We'll give you two copies so you have one to break. :) if you need more, just let me know.

2. Entries are hereby solicited. Be prim-ficient, but make it your own. The wagon is an attachment worn by the driver (along with the horse). The parade will take place on Sept 19 at 10 am slt, so you'll need at least one driver there. More people can ride. The cart you get will accommodate 3, but poseballs can be added to the build and more can ride if you wish. See specific instructions below on poseballs.

3. We will apply no-mature-content rules using LL standards, so as to allow all to attend, and not require a rating for the SL event notice. (So, for example, a "Orgies Are Better At The Thermae" float? No
problem. Orgy occurring ON the float? Problem.)

4. The horse is no mod. The wagon is what we are decorating. Have fun with it, but please select the base wagon LAST to link .. necessary for the tour part to work.

5. Please send us your completed wagon by Sept 15 so we can make sure it all works.

6. Yes. There are prizes. Trophies, gift certificates to CDS Shops, and even cash!

Specific instructions:

1. PLEASE make and keep a back up copy if you can. We had SL inventory issues last year and while most of the floats were recovered, it was a long night on the phone with the lindens. Remember all prims must be transferable.

2. If you want to add poses, indicate WHERE you want them attached, and WHAT pose you want to use, sending it along with your float. The poses must be attached to the engine part of the float, which is no transfer, so Rose will have to do that with the poseballs. If what you want is also no transfer, let me know and we can coordinate. The earlier we get the completed build, the better we will be able to make it just the way you want it.

3. We will need to have a set up "rehearsal" with whoever your driver is no later than the 18th of September. Anyone who wants to ride on the float will need to be at the rehearsal. We can do this anytime your float is finished.

REMEMBER, the "driver" must wear the bierwagen, and the horse. While i can do most of the positioning before rehearsal, the size of different avatars makes it impossible to get it perfect without the actual drivers.

The parade itself will take about 20 minutes, depending on the number of entries. Because the wagons will be prim heavy and because NFS will already be straining with Oktoberfest prims, we would like to park and display the creations for several days after the parade in one of our other sims. If that is a problem, we'll work it out with you.

Don't want to build a float, but want to ride a horse, fly a balloon, etc? Check with Rose... ANY of our restrictions are prim dependent... so you probably can, but let's discuss so no one is disappointed! ONLY Bierwagons will be eligible for prizes though!

Let's see your creativity!

PS: if anyone has time or inclination to do a translation of this information into German and Spanish, it would be really helpful! thanks!

For those who missed last year's fun, I took a bunch of photos of the parade as well as a few other Oktoberfest fun moments and you can see them here: http://tr.im/wQmh
