Since the beginning of the program, CDS has been an event partner with Metanomics, http://www.metanomics.net/. We've watched them grow from a technically challenged SL talk show to a well respected commenter on major aspects of Second Life... the serious side as they like to say. We've also watched as the program evolved and shifted from a university program through ownership changes to the present professional structure, owned by Remedy Communications. Each week, from fall to summer, Metanomics produces a show. Because of the popularity of the show, overflow sites such as our Amphitheatre are used to bring the show to more live in SL audiences. This has been a great way for our community to focus discussions on what we do, gain invaluable exposure to the larger SL community and meet new people. Several of our citizens first "met" CDS through metanomics.
I started hosting Metanomics when it first began, and Cindy Ecksol stepped into the role when my positions changed in CDS. Now, as LRA, it isn't reasonable to expect Cindy to keep this responsibility as well, so we are looking for someone who would like to be the face of CDS for this program. It does take the commitment of a couple hours each week, to set up and attend the shows, post in SL events and keep our own community advised of relevant programs.
This positions has been designated as an Events Coordinator position by the chancellor, and thus caries the civil service stipend of 1000 L per month. If you are interested, please contact me. The most important qualification is to be friendly and welcoming. The rest we can teach you!
