While the Cultural Commissions continue to meet and determine how they want to spend the allocated funds in their regions, we will still have CDS wide events! I"ve sent in an application for inclusion in the Linden Lab Winterfaire activities, but we won't know if we are included in that until we see it on the home page. Here is what we've got planned so far:
NOTE: Decorating of all the sims will occur this week to be concluded on Friday...And as you may have seen on todays notice, the summer and fall trees should now be traded out for winter ones. We'll use the special decor created last year by Moon Adamant and there will be a Tree and ice rink in the platz as well ice on the river. We will need all your creativity and help!
Contests: Watch for notices regarding Owl Parade/snow creature contests!
December 6: Skiing in the Alps, beginning with a celebration of snow on St Nicholas day and continuing through March! Hopefully we'll have a dj to play here, or i can turn on the ski tunes from last year again.
December 6 - January 6: Christkindlmarket in Neufreistadt! From discussions in Guild, and in the NFS Cultural commission meeting, we'll try this. Set up and decorating will need to be done this week. Market tables will be available as for past festivals, but please keep your offerings in theme for holiday/winter or at least bavarian related. Free items are encouraged and welcomed.. this is a time for socializing! Tables will be available first come first served... we'll set them up Friday.
December 6 through January 6: Saturnalia Festival in the roman themed sims. Suns and evergreens are appropriate decor in these sims as well! Festival dance and feast on the traditional day of dedication to the Sun God, December 17. Togas encouraged!
December 12: Winter Holiday Art Exhibit and Juried Art Contest, at the newly opened Al GarnARTa Gallery in the Al Andalus sims. Exhibit opening and announced of winners on the 12th. Contest details to be announced.
In addition, each region may wish to add special music or other activity.(but please be prepared to host/hostess the events!) We'll have a formal holiday ball late in the month as well.
Special Note regarding Al Andalus. Al Andalus sims have never had snow before. This year we are planning to have the weather in Al Andalus track rl Granada Spain weather. This means it may snow briefly, but nothing like the alps! Also, Al Andalus landowner and musician Joaquin Gustav will release his first Christmas CD at the regular show in Al Zahra theater on Friday, December 4 at 8 pm. Holiday attire is appropriate for that concert!
