In CDS' early history the builders names most of the Neualtenberg (later Neufreistadt) streets after early CDS residents who were contributors, office holders or maybe just interesting. So, for example, there is a Bladedancerallee (near MoCA), named after BladeDancer Pendragon, who constructed the NFS Kirche.
Some of the NFS road names refer to residents or friends long gone, and others to folks who still are with us or even still have leadership roles. But it's been a long time since we looked at that list.
While working to fix some of the broken road-name and road-parcel boundaries on our map, and correct errors (like the inconsistent naming of the main Colonia Nova roads), I noted that we have the opportunity to add a few obvious, but underthanked, key builders to the list of honorees.
In our system of government, I can do this from the Executive Branch .. but the RA always could adopt a bill to change or repeal my actions. So it's wise to limit this honor to people who are widely and obviously known to our community, beyond question, as strong, effective and positive contributors. Personally, I do not think we should start naming streets for every elected yahoo -- speaking as one of those yahoos.
Still, sometimes, our volunteers are extraordinary, and everyone knows it. The sort of people who make you think: if we have a Sudanestrasse and a Gwynethstrasse, then why the heck do we NOT have a ... _____-Strasse?
With that in mind, I am pleased to announce that the following changes have been made to public parcels, and offer my congratulations, along with the deep thanks of our entire community, to the honorees.
Diannestrasse: The main segment of the Lowlands Road through the south valley of Neufriestadt has been named after CDS government leader and skilled, generous builder Dianne Mechanique, architect and saving muse of the Neufriestadt city wall (among other things).
Via Luna: The east-west road along the North side of Colonia Nova, which also leads in to Locus Amoenus, has been named after CDS New Guild leader and master architect Moon Adamant, whose contributions to CDS literally are too numerous to mention.
Angiportus Livingston: The small alley in Colonia Nova that leads from the north city gate to the Praetorium has been named after Brian Livingston, a long-time CDS government leader and a driving force for the original Colonia Nova expansion.
Angiportus Rosae: the Public Garden and Alley, newly re-mapped last year, in the Southeast quadrant of Colonia Nova's city walls near the Temple of Minerva has been named after long-time CDS public information officer, deputy chancellor and event-miracle-worker Rose Springvale, who also happened to be the original designer of Alpine Meadows sim.
Seattle Road: the east-west traverse road crossing Alpine Meadows, which extends into the Monastery sim, has been named after Jon Seattle, founder of the CDS New Guild, master builder, and generous contributor of all sorts of volunteer help to CDS, behind the scenes, for years.
Please join me in showing our appreciation to these exemplars of constructive volunteer contribution to CDS.
Regards JP
