hmmm... sorry. pardon my (mis)use of adjectives or sarcasm. i was simply expressing a hope that a potential chancellor would be a more responsible and ambitious person than i, and would have started doing their homework prior to the night before it was due. I had meant to express how impressed, i personally would be, to see a perspective chancellor come to that first meeting with at least a rough outline for a budget, a list of names and a plan for their teams to assist with land, pio, finance, etc...
of course, i may not like their plans or staff picks, and if i were ra, may not vote for them. they could just be better off standing up before the ra and saying the right, vague, statements about valuing the creativity and diversity in cds and respecting the democracy and the people's voice above all all things and promising to serve dutifully, and let it essentially be a popularity contest. however, who really wants that?
i think the chancellor has a lot of responsibility, compared to almost every other post in cds, and i personally would be very impressed to see someone come in ready to hit the ground running. especially given how long things can take in cds, and that they only have 6 months to do anything. PLUS, the fact that this is one of the more tumultuous times in recent cds history and there is very little existing structure to pick up from. the new chancellor will be starting from scratch on most of their assigned duties.
but no pip, i dont see much prestige in being mayor of a virtual town. unless that town was doing really unique and progressive things that made it a model, recognized globally for it's contributions. any prestige it may hold would have to be hard earned or well imagined. i hadnt expected any response to my post. my questions were rhetorical, i didnt propose anything or make any accusations. if anything, i expected to hear that i was expecting too much from a volunteer position, which i am. but what the heck, i'll shoot for the stars and be happy with the moon.
