Save the Date! Inaugural Ball - - Saturday, July 31st

Post by Sonja Strom »

Help to welcome our new Administration in the CDS at the Inaugural Ball!

The Ball is planned for Sunday, the 20th of June, from Noon (12:00) to 3pm PDT. This time has been chosen because it lets residents from both sides of the Atlantic attend, and we hope that everyone can come!!

During this time feel free to come and go as you wish. As is normal for the Inaugural Ball, there will be music, dancing, light refreshments and champagne available. Once the party is underway, a speech or two will most likely be given about the term. It will be a formal event, in the place where we have traditionally held it, the Neufreistadt Schloss.
Here is an address for the Schloss: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/239/192/196

Further announcements to come!

Edited one time to change title of thread to new date.

Woo hoo :) I'll be there, and hopefully not via my iPhone, because I certainly wish to enjoy it fully :)

When I made the posting for this thread I had the best of intentions. However, in the meantime the RA has not yet decided on who will be Chancellor for this term...
The Inaugural Ball will be postponed until the administration is decided.

That's a shame, Sonja. For my money, you're the Chancellor until such time as the RA is able to elect a new one. But never mind :!:

Darn, and I was hoping to meet a lot of CDS people since I am new to this community.

Thank you so much for your warm welcome to NFS and CDS Sonya, I really hope you continue as Chancellor. You'd have my vote if I could give it.

Cheers,
Rosie

Well, we had a completely improptu, unplanned ball :) It was still fun...

Thanks to everybody for your interest!

It is my understanding that at the RA meeting this coming Sunday, the 11th of July, another vote will be held for the Chancellor for this term. After that I believe we will have an administration for the term and will be able to hold the Ball. However, as we cannot be certain of how it will turn out, there is not yet a definite date for the Inaugural Ball.

It seems to me like we can go ahead and schedule those spa appointments to prepare...

Did the Inaugural Ball get cancelled permanently? Seems appropriate, kind of late in the term now.

In the summary of the last RA Meeting (July 11th) posted here: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2991
Item 1 is: "1. Seven day votes acknowledged. Commerce Commission formed, no new chancellor elected."

To me this has not seemed like an important enough result to call for an Inaugural Ball.
What do all of you CDSers think? Should we have one?

When I organized my first inaugural ball, i was specifically told that the ball was not for the chancellor, but for the RA. I don't think it is fair to hold the ball hostage because there were not enough votes to elect a new chancellor. There is a new administration in CDS, and most of them are doing the job they agreed to do. I think they deserve recognition for that. The service of the 13 other people is what we are celebrating, not the deadlock over chancellor.

Alright, sounds good. I am organising one. It will now be held on Saturday, the 31st of July, from Noon to 2pm PDT in the Neufreistadt Schloss.

Here I will repeat the information I posted above:
