Al Andalus broke the 2000 vote barrier last Friday night on the B.places Hot spots voting and is holding its position on the first page of Art's and Culture sims. http://www.b-places.com/bp_search.php?p ... Culture&s= (The votes are actually more like 2500, but b.places had a glitch last fall, and the machines all got reset backwards!) No matter, we will still celebrate with a 2001 Arabian nights party during Flamenco Friday. Belly dance machines will take their place next to the flamenco, and we will give away prizes from the Souk Market. Dress up and come celebrate with us!
Also Friday at noon, The Al Andalus Cultural Commission will meet to discuss what we want to do in the way of events this term. If there is something you want to do, come tell the group so we can support it! We will discuss our musical events, planned art exhibits in Al Garna(r)ta, community theater in Aurora Hall and the future of the Silver Pen LIbrary.
AIC continues their daily community prayer service and the group continues to grow. Micael Khandr also holds Compline Evening Prayers on Wednesday nights.
Finally, we have several new citizens in AA. Mistress Spore, Mathiew Glenwalker and Trebor Warcliffe all own new houses in Garnata Village, stop by and say hello! Namav Abramovic has returned to Al Andalus after a long absense from SL and is now our resident Camel Merchant, selling his sculpted camels in the Souk. Namav has agreed to reprise his presentation on Possibilities of Grassroots activism in SecondLife, which he first presented to us in April of 2008. Carlos Whitefalcon will be teaching Hebrew classes on the island in Almunecar. He's particularly interested in meeting other teachers/professors using SL to teach.
