Meeting Summary

Present in the meeting:
Anna Toussaint, Arria Perreault, CLEOPATRA Xigalia, Lilith Ivory, Rosie Gray, Sonja Strom, Timo Gufler, Tor Karlsvalt.

We began the meeting by looking at two inputs from the past.
One of these was a Forum thread from the last meeting of this committee, to be found at:

Another was the schedule for last year's Oktoberfest. If you don't have that schedule and would like to get it, send me an IM and I will give it to you.

Ideas we talked about were:

Ongoing
- Live musicians and DJs - Sonja will organise
- Getting The Old Bowl Theater more active. To do this, the AMUA group that owns The Old Bowl would need to allow events to be hosted there. After the meeting Pip told us we could use the Old Bowl for community events.
- Balloon Event - Tor will organise (maybe this will be coordinated with the Oktoberfest celebrations)
- Monastery Events, including live musicians, treasure hunts - Arria will organise

Oktoberfest (Sept. 18 to Oct. 4)
- Market
- Parade
- Live Music
- Contest for Best Traditional Folk Costume
- Anniversary Ball
- Fireworks

Oktoberfest Organisers:
Lilith = Poster
Tor = Parade
Sonja = Musicians, Fireworks, Anniversary Ball (at the end), overall contact with others
Arria = Market (Cleopatra will help)

Later in the Year:
- Halloween - Arria (and, I assume, Lilith) will organise
- Skiing - Ulysse and Arria will organise
- Christkindlmarkt - no organiser yet
- Christmas, including a Christmas Tree on Platz, live concerts in the Neufreistadt Kirche - Lilith and Rosie will help

[12:17] Sonja Strom: This meeting it for us to talk about what kind of cultural events we would like to have in the Alpine area of the CDS.
[12:18] Sonja Strom: We have had a meeting last winter, which was the last one for this group.
[12:18] Sonja Strom: Lilith and I are the Co-chairs of this committee,
[12:19] Sonja Strom: but as we all know it is open
[12:19] Sonja Strom: anyone can participate and contribute,
[12:19] Sonja Strom: or complain if they want, lol

[12:20] Sonja Strom: I think we can review those ideas, and see what we would maybe like to do with them,

[12:21] Sonja Strom: And I now have a couple of other ideas too.
[12:21] Sonja Strom: One thing we can consider is,
[12:21] Sonja Strom: in the CDS budget that was announced to the RA and in the Forum,
[12:22] Sonja Strom: - by the Chancellor -
[12:22] Arria Perreault: all projects seem very nice
[12:22] Sonja Strom: there is an amount that we can spend of L$12500 each month on cultural activities for these sims,
[12:23] Sonja Strom: that means, Neufreistadt, Alpine Meadow, and Monastery.
[12:23] Tor Karlsvalt: I think Oktoberfest was on a separate allocation tho, right?
[12:23] Sonja Strom: Yes,
[12:23] Arria Perreault: how much dp we have for Oktoberfest?
[12:23] Sonja Strom: for CDS-wide events they can come from the overall CDS budget.
[12:24] Sonja Strom: In the CDS budget there is L$45000 for the Oktoberfest,
[12:24] Arria Perreault: ok
[12:24] Sonja Strom: which is the same amount budgeted for it in the past two years or so.
[12:24] Lilith Ivory: are you still in contact with ther german Sims Sonja?
[12:25] Sonja Strom: The 12500 is for us to spend however we think would be good for these three sims.
[12:25] Tor Karlsvalt: that collaberation with Wunderbar was wonderful
[12:25] Tor's Google Translator: Wonderful was wonderful with that Collaberation
[12:25] Timo Gufler: did we use the whole 12500 in the last year?
[12:25] Sonja Strom: Yes, I am a little in contact with the German-speaking sims, mostly the Swiss ones
[12:25] Tor Karlsvalt: that is a monthly amount
[12:25] Sonja Strom: but they seem to be kind of emptying out :-\

[12:26] Sonja Strom: I think SL is becoming less popular in some areas
[12:26] Timo Gufler: do we have any difficulties on spending it?
[12:26] Sonja Strom: yes, I find it a little bit sad, because I really like SL
[12:26] Lilith Ivory: I liked the Tiroler eck band
[12:26] Sonja Strom: me too
[12:26] Arria Perreault: Rose has said that she will be travelling for Oktoberfest and that she cannot work on the organization. It means we need a working group for that (either this committee or a special group)

[12:27] Sonja Strom: and I have not gotten any response.
[12:27] Sonja Strom: I can try again.

[12:59] Sonja Strom: but the problem with lag is, it is true for the sim as a whole

[12:59] Sonja Strom: when there is a live musician and 35 avies, with a market...
[12:59] Tor Karlsvalt: well if we do accomplish a new sim, that would solve teh lag problem maybe
[12:59] Lilith Ivory: having it at a different sim seems to be a good idea

[13:00] Sonja Strom: then having something using a lot of scripts causes problems...
[13:00] Sonja Strom: and when we had it there before hardly anybody used it.
