I've still not been able to log into the test site, so haven't been able to do any testing - it refuses to accept my password, even though it worked once when we were in the meeting last Saturday. Then I was able to log in once, but only saw the 'page not found' and couldn't do anything then either.

Which testing site, Rosie?
Is it Gwyns one or the one I set up last Friday on http://www.access4alldesign.com/wpcds/?
The latter one is in development and will be ftp to its final location when we have decided where it will be hosted; at the moment it is on my personal hosting server in Dublin.
If you want access to it before it moves to its final location I can do that, just let me know and send me your email address at [email protected] so i can send you the login/password details for you.
I would be interested to see if it all goes ok and you can do administration duties on it before this Saturday 17th meeting.

Well, hallelujah!!

I know I shouldn't say "I told you so" but back when the last redesign was being done I could not understand why we needed to use typo3 and recommended that we stick with Wordpress. I actually did figure out how to use typo3 when I was archivist, but, wow, it was a royal pain.

My experience with converting sites to Wordpress is that it's very straightforward -- cut and paste will do in a pinch and the results are really nice...and the format can be changed literally overnight. I'll look forward to seeing the whole thing revamped.

http://portal-slcds-info.access.secure-ssl-servers.us
The CDS web portal is now at it's final location, see above address.
Gwyn, the Domain owner will then point the previous portal version to the new location and then the address will be again http://portal.slcds.info
Bravo to you , Cindy, for figuring out Typo3, it totally confused me at the time.
We have about 500 pages that need a home in the new portal.
I have added a plugin (F & Q) which creates an accordion and reveals hidden text. The various law descriptions will find their home in this fashion.
We will need a few volunteers to add the text, copy & paste from the previous site content, which I have on my pc.
BTW the forum has an RSS to the left of the new portal, this gives one direct access to the latest forum updates.

Great Mizou! Thanks so much for all your work on this.

I'll get onto the SEO soon. As the pages are populated it would be easy for whoever is putting in the text for a specific page, for them to also do the SEO for that page, as they will be able to see a few examples.

Congratulation Mizou. The website is very nice.
I am ready to help you to copy paste the content. As priority, I see the Constitution, the code of laws and the financial reports. I think that there are the most important documents for our democracy.
I will also send you a set of pictures of the Monastery. You can choose one of them.
Again thank you for your wonderful work.

NB: Please keep the ancient site as archive ... I would be happy to get a copy.

Thanks Arria, I enjoyed creating the new website. I have a copy of the previous version, I can zip it up and send it to you.
At the moment I am copying the code of laws, using the 'Q & A' plugin from RAYGUN see http://madebyraygun.com/wordpress/plugins/q-and-a/
If you look at the new Code of Law page, each law when clicked opens up to show the text, so all the laws are on 1 page.
I will create a new username and password for you to work on the backend of the website.
Maybe we need to have a meeting to define who is going to work on which page(s) so it all happens in an orderly fashion.
While copying from the previous website, I found an even older CDS website from 2006 and an article about a Proposal for a 'portal' written by Gwyn, see http://aliasi.us/nburgwiki/tiki-index.p ... ForNewSite ... very interesting read! :D
