Trebor Warcliffe: hehe
Anna Toussaint: I just put today's agenda in the box
Trebor Warcliffe: Were you able to add the items I gave you Anna?
Pat: assless chaps? who says gay men never did anything for fashion?
Anna Toussaint: looks like we need to clean it out\

Rosie Gray: your coour is putty
Rosie Gray: colour*
Rosie Gray: so I guess there are rez issues
Anna Toussaint: I would guess
Pat: actually i llook pretty awful to me to in this light
Shep: Sorry I'm late miss lol
Rosie Gray: hi Shep
Anna Toussaint: let's get started
Anna Toussaint: glafd you're hiere, Shep
Anna Toussaint: and glad you're here, too
Agenda Giver owned by Cindy Ecksol gave you 'RA Agenda 1-21-2012' ( Colonia Nova (13,165,41) ).
Shep: Only because Pat called me .. I thought it was Sunday
Anna Toussaint: oops
Callipygian Christensen: LOL..that was obviously going around
Anna Toussaint: ok, let's get started
Shep: lol
Shep: ok
Anna Toussaint: any additions or other changes to the agenda?
Pat: i have one
Anna Toussaint: ok, Pat
Pat: i posted it on the forums too
Pat: could we begin the discussion on ways to deal with the situation where there are fewer candidates than seats?
Anna Toussaint: where? I didn't see it when I put the agenda together yesterday morning
Anna Toussaint: ok ... new business
Pat: we had some ideas before - write in candidates for example
Pat: but never passed any legislation
Anna Toussaint: I'll stick it under new business
Pat: would be good to pick this up if we can. thx :)
Anna Toussaint: any thing else?
Rosie Gray: hi Soro and Tor
Trebor Warcliffe: Catching up
Pat: not from me
Anna Toussaint: Trebor, what were those notecards?
Anna Toussaint: were they agenda items?
Callipygian ChristensenCallipygian Christensen raises her hand - mine may be citizen concern..you can decide after I give it
Trebor Warcliffe: Under Executive Reports
Trebor Warcliffe: yes
Anna Toussaint: ok
Trebor Warcliffe: I need 15mins instead of 5
Trebor Warcliffe: A lot to cover
Anna Toussaint: we'll see how it goes,. Trebor
Anna Toussaint: Calli? what is your concern
Callipygian Christensen: In the last week I've been reading though past RA transcripts..a couple of years worth (obviously in some previous life I did something very bad)..and have a request.suggestion
Callipygian Christensen: When posting transcritps to the portal, could a copy of the agenda be placed at the start please
Anna Toussaint: ok ... will it involve legislation?
Anna Toussaint: ok ... Pat is our transcript guy
Anna Toussaint: could you do that, Pat?
Callipygian Christensen: its a lot easier to find things if you can see the genda at the start and know to look or to skip
Pat: good idea calli :) i'll do that for future transcripts (if i remember. kick me if i don't!)
Anna Toussaint: hehe
Callipygian Christensen: thank you :) done
Anna Toussaint: don't tempt us
Anna Toussaint: ok, any other additions or deletions?
Rosie Gray: not from me
Anna Toussaint: Shep?
Anna Toussaint: has anybody heard from Beathan?
Pat: no anna
Rosie Gray: not I
Shep: No
Anna Toussaint: Hi, Guillaume
Pat: not for a while. we were trying to find a time to meet with calli and delia but i'm not sure he's been logged in in the past week
Gaius Tiberius: Hello, all ㋡
Anna Toussaint: well, let's vote on this agenda ...
Anna Toussaint: motion to approve?
Callipygian Christensen: not since last Saturday Pat *nod*
Pat: i move to approve
Anna Toussaint: second?
Rosie Gray: I second
Anna Toussaint: all in favor?
Pat: aye
Rosie Gray: aye
Shep: Aye
Anna Toussaint: chair votes aye
Anna Toussaint: agenda approved
Anna Toussaint: there has not been a seven day vote called for
Anna Toussaint: I think there are speakers on all agenda items, so lets move on to citixen concerns
Anna Toussaint: are there any?
Callipygian ChristensenCallipygian Christensen waves again
Anna Toussaint: Calli?
Callipygian Christensen: the 7 day vote - imo should be automatic, since if you plan to be here and the power goes out, you cant actually request it
Anna Toussaint: ok ... any objections?
Anna Toussaint: seeing none, so ordered
Shep: no
Anna Toussaint: there will be a 7 day vote
Pat: i have no objection ot beathan having a 7-day vote
Anna Toussaint: :)
Pat: *to
Anna Toussaint: thanks ...
Anna Toussaint: any other citizen concerns?
Anna Toussaint: ok ... RA members concerns?
Pat: my putty-like skin and the terrible lighting in here? no other ones :-)
Anna Toussaint: hehe
Rosie Gray: hehehe
Anna Toussaint: adjust your windlight, Pat
Anna Toussaint: ok
Anna Toussaint: any old business?
Shep: Keeps quiet about Pats appearance :D
Anna Toussaint: shhhh
Anna Toussaint: its what's inside that counts, Pat
Anna Toussaint: ok
DeliaLake BeaumontDeliaLake Beaumont thinks Pat's skin looks in fine color, given winter in northern latitudes
Shep: lol
Anna Toussaint: LOL
Rosie Gray: hehe
Anna Toussaint: ok
Anna Toussaint: lets talk about RA seats
Anna Toussaint: Pat?
Pat: yes
Anna Toussaint: what do you have in mind?
Pat: i think we should do something about the situation where we get fewer candidates coming forward than seats, say only 5 when there's a 7-member RA
Pat: under our current rules they all get elected without an election
Trebor Warcliffe: raises hand
Anna Toussaint: ok ... Treb?
Pat: previously ppl have suggested allowing 'write-in' candidates (or some other solution)
Trebor Warcliffe: I have to agree with Pat.
Pat: so that ppl can come forward after the deadline
Trebor Warcliffe: My suggestion
Anna Toussaint: sorry ,.. Pat still has the floor
Trebor Warcliffe: Sorry Ill wait
Trebor Warcliffe: sorry pat
Pat: oh, i'm done. just wanted to kick off a discussion
Anna Toussaint: my fault
Anna Toussaint: ok .,. Treb?
Trebor Warcliffe: Tu, again my apologies for butting in, im excited today lol
Trebor Warcliffe: Ok
Trebor Warcliffe: 7 seats only 6 people running
Trebor Warcliffe: Set the box to 5 winning candiadtes
Trebor Warcliffe: than hold a by-election afterwards
Trebor Warcliffe: other alternative
DeliaLake BeaumontDeliaLake Beaumont raises her hand
Trebor Warcliffe: if not enough people running by the deadline than extend the deadlien by 24 hours
Trebor Warcliffe: DONE for nwo
Anna Toussaint: Delia?
Callipygian ChristensenCallipygian Christensen raises her hand
DeliaLake Beaumont: there is another and perhaps larger issue here
DeliaLake Beaumont: that is if there are 7 available seats
DeliaLake Beaumont: and 5 candidates, all are elected by acclamation in our current system
DeliaLake Beaumont: the software will not eliminate anyone when there are not sufficient candidates
DeliaLake Beaumont: we had this happen a couple of yrs ago
DeliaLake Beaumont: done for now
Pat: .me raises hand
Anna Toussaint: I take it the software cannot be re-coded?
Anna Toussaint: first Calli, then Pat
Anna Toussaint: Delia?
DeliaLake Beaumont: no it can't because it's the way STV tallies votes
Anna Toussaint: ah
Anna Toussaint: gotcha
Anna Toussaint: Calli?
Callipygian Christensen: If you are going to extend deadlines, why bother having them to begin with. My personal feeling is that people should serve because they *want* to and feel they have something to offer - if only 5 stepup to bat, those 5 get a seat - if the poulace can't produce enough candidates, perhas it is saying '5 is enough for us'. I believe you accalim the 5 and immediately call a by-election - not start altering deadlines and writing in candidates
Callipygian Christensen: the write in not being an option with the current tech anyway
Callipygian Christensen: done
Anna Toussaint: Pat?
Rosie GrayRosie Gray raises hand
Trebor Warcliffe: Some people dont declare to run because they feel their are already enough candidates goign to run but havent declared yet
Anna Toussaint: then Rosie
Anna Toussaint: Trebor, pat has the floor
Anna Toussaint: then Rosie
Pat: calli has a point. but i think we need to consider the circumstance where ppl *would have* put their names forward if they had known there would not be enough candidates
Callipygian Christensen: Trebor - as I said 'run because you have something to offfer..not because Joe is running and so is Sue'
Callipygian Christensen: Pat - then they should declare and withdraw if that is the case
Pat: if we provide a way for more ppl to come forward - by a simple deadline extension or by writing in candidates - then we can ensure we always have an election
Anna Toussaint: Rosie?
Bells SemyorkaBells Semyorka agrees with Calli, it's a willingness to serve our community not a political game of Rick
Pat: not finished!
Anna Toussaint: oops
Bells Semyorka: *risk
Anna Toussaint: sorry, thought you were done, Pat
Pat: personally, i think it's a terrible situation when we just acclaim candidates with no vote being held
Pat: done :)
Anna Toussaint: Rosie?
Rosie Gray: thanks Anna
Rosie Gray: I agree with what Calli said, and don't see any point in extending deadlines
Rosie Gray: and that if people want to offer their candidacy, then they will do so in the first round
DeliaLake BeaumontDeliaLake Beaumont raises her hand again
Rosie Gray: I just don't see the point, otherwise as there is plenty of opportunity for anyone who is interested
Rosie Gray: done
Anna Toussaint: Delia?
Tor KarlsvaltTor Karlsvalt thinkgs hear hear Rosie
DeliaLake Beaumont: I agree with Pat that acclamation doesn't serve democracy well. but want to raise another issue from this conversation
DeliaLake Beaumont: that is if we have an election. all are elected by acclamation and we call a by-election
DeliaLake Beaumont: then we are in effect extending the term of the previous RA for at least 1 month or we are with out a legislative body for that time
Anna Toussaint: Hi, Pip
Pip Torok: hi everyone
Shep: Hi Pip
Tor Karlsvalt: Hi Pip
Gaius Tiberius: Hey! Pip
Anna Toussaint: that, Delia, could be fixed by allowing those elected to serve
Callipygian Christensen: I dont understand that Delia - if 5 are acclaimed they are the incoming RA - how does it extedn the previous mandate?
Anna Toussaint: Delia?
Pat: i didn't follow that bit either
Rosie GrayRosie Gray wonders what would happen if the same situation occurred a second time around
DeliaLake Beaumont: if we have an election where not enough people have run
DeliaLake Beaumont: and all are elected
DeliaLake Beaumont: and we immediately call a by-election/redo
Callipygian Christensen: a by-election isn't a redo..its a 'fill empty seats'
DeliaLake Beaumont: we either have no RA during that period or????
DeliaLake Beaumont: but still the first folks would be by acclamation
Tor Karlsvalt thinks we might have a term of elections.
DeliaLake Beaumont: and like Pat I'd like to avoid that happening if possible
Rosie Gray raises hand
Anna Toussaint: I have a question ... what happens in real life is a candidate runs unoppoese?
Anna Toussaint: unopposed
Patroklus Murakami: it's just a by-election for empty seats not a redo imho
Shep Titian: they are elected
Rosie Gray: that's what I was just going to say... in RL, they are elected
Anna Toussaint: thank you, shep
Rosie Gray: and it happens
Anna Toussaint: and Rosie :)
Anna Toussaint: it happens all the time
Rosie Gray: yes
Callipygian Christensen: and in RL if 6 are elected on Tuesday and one of them keels over on Wednesday, a by election is called
Anna Toussaint: yes
Rosie Gray nods
Anna Toussaint: Delia, what has the practice been up until now?
Shep Titian: The only thing to do is to have a huge 'stand for RA ' campaign before the election
Anna Toussaint: Have the acclaimed folks served?
Rosie Gray: I agree with that Shep
Callipygian Christensen: I agree that acclamation isnt desirable, but I'd rather have people sitting who *want* to be there, even if I disagree with their politics, than have people who only ran because there needed to be a vote
Anna Toussaint: that's not a bad idea, Shep
Guillaume Mistwalker likes tat ide.
DeliaLake Beaumont: we didn't have any unfilled seats. we almost did but it never worked out that way
Anna Toussaint: ah
DeliaLake Beaumont: we have had election by acclamation though
DeliaLake Beaumont: and folks didn't like it
Guillaume Mistwalker eyes PAt.
Rosie Gray: well if they don't like it, they can participate
Patroklus Murakami: we had one election where only person put their name forward by the nomination date....
DeliaLake Beaumont: lol
Anna Toussaint: well, folks should have run for election
Anna Toussaint: :)
Rosie Gray: :D
Patroklus Murakami: and it triggered another 'crisis'. i'd like to avoid that in future
Guillaume Mistwalker nods.
Rosie Gray: sounds like there wasnt' much notice or talk about the pending election tht time Pat
DeliaLake Beaumont: under the old/faction system, factions appointed their own to fill empty seats. 2 yrs or so ago we changed that
DeliaLake Beaumont: to direct elections
Shep Titian: You can't force people to stand
Anna Toussaint: so ... going back to factions would fix this?
Pip Torok thinks that more ppl should realise that democracy actually means both having your say and representing your fellow-citizens
Tor Karlsvalt: Just cause other problems
Callipygian Christensen: well it might - I'd leave CDS so let me know how that goes if you do it lol
Anna Toussaint: hehe
Anna Toussaint: noooooo!
Callipygian Christensen pints to what Pip said
Callipygian Christensen: points
Shep Titian: I won't join a faction
Bells Semyorka nods in agreement
Anna Toussaint: well, Pat, what do you propose?
Patroklus Murakami: i dont think we need to go back to teh faction system. that's not needed
Pip Torok: no one ever had to join a faction, Shep
Patroklus Murakami: i think we should continue the discusion on the forums. i hear some ppl who think there is not really a problem
Patroklus Murakami: and others like me who would like to make a change
Callipygian Christensen: I support a 'rock the candidacy' approach and make it clear to people that if they declare, and so do 20 others, then they can withdraw
Trebor Warcliffe: I like that
Anna Toussaint: well, pat, would you post your rationale as a new thread under "Legislative Discussion?"
Patroklus Murakami: let's debate it a bit more and, if there's a consensus for action, i'll bring a proposal to a future RA meeting. well before the next election!
Shep Titian: Pat the change just needs to be to engage people
Patroklus Murakami: sure anna :)
Trebor Warcliffe: yes Shep
Anna Toussaint: good
Anna Toussaint: anybody else on this issue?
Anna Toussaint: kk
Callipygian Christensen mutters that 'extending a deadlin'e is altering the process once it is in effect in some eyes I am sure..and we've seen how any perception of that is received
Shep Titian: Yopur meeting the other night was good .. we need more like that
Guillaume Mistwalker: IMO, the largest failure of any representative democracy is the destruction of parties.
Pip Torok: don't people realise that ppl are free to choose or not choose you if you yourself choose to stand for any office?! :)
Anna Toussaint: we haven't voted to extend the deadline yet. Calli :)
Callipygian Christensen: lol Anna..just offering that as a thinking point of the discussion
DeliaLake Beaumont: my request is 1. to make it clear and 2. to make it doable
Anna Toussaint: muttering aside .., :)
Tor Karlsvalt: :)
Anna Toussaint: well, we'll have a rousing debate on the forums
Trebor Warcliffe: Sounds good
Anna Toussaint: Now, I'd like to hear from the commissions ...
Anna Toussaint: we have a couple
Pip Torok: Guillaume .. the destruction of groups ("parties, factions") is against the TOS
Anna Toussaint: Rosie?
Anna Toussaint: could you fill us in on yours?
Rosie Gray: yes

Rosie Gray: as you all know I'm sure, I've posted the survey to gauge people's ideas regarding a new sim purchase
Rosie Gray: so far 18 people have filled in the survey
Rosie Gray: it will close to responses on the 28th
Rosie Gray: I'll send out another reminder to people....
Anna Toussaint: any preliminary feelings?
Trebor Warcliffe: Rosie may I make a suggestion
Rosie Gray: and then I plan to have some in world meetings to discuss the findings, and anything else people want to discuss
Pip Torok: my own software prevents me from answering the survey, so i'll email my own response
Anna Toussaint: are you done Rosie?
Rosie Gray: um, one sec
Anna Toussaint: kk, then Trebor
Rosie Gray: so I don't want anyone to think that the survey was meant to be the end-all
Anna Toussaint: just checking ... :)
Rosie Gray: it's meant to just get a feeling for what the general concensus is
Rosie Gray: if that's possible :P
Rosie Gray: alright, finished now
Anna Toussaint: Treb?
Trebor Warcliffe: Yes Rosie just a suggestion.
Trebor Warcliffe: Ive had some pretty good success with actually IM'ing people as I see them in-world with a LM for the Colonia Nova contest.
Trebor Warcliffe: Its a little more work but Ive been happy with the results as far as people participating in teh voting.
Trebor Warcliffe: DONE
Anna Toussaint: thank you
Rosie Gray nods; yes good idea Trebor
Anna Toussaint: any more comments or questions for Rosie?
Anna Toussaint: kk
Anna Toussaint: Pat?
Patroklus Murakami: sure
Patroklus Murakami: first, could everyone click the recorder on the desk to indicate consent to be recorded?
Patroklus Murakami: i will post the transcript of this meeting later
Anna Toussaint has indicated consent to be recorded.
Callipygian Christensen has indicated consent to be recorded.
Anna Toussaint: question
Tor Karlsvalt has indicated consent to be recorded.
Soro Dagostino: Sorry, RL calls.
Patroklus Murakami: we held a citizenship transparency commission meeting here yesterday. yes anna?
Anna Toussaint: doesn't the sign behind me do the same thing?
Patroklus Murakami: it might do but i don't know where the transcript goes. it does not go to me :)
Shep Titian has indicated consent to be recorded.
Anna Toussaint: ah
Anna Toussaint: I mean, automatically giving consent
Rosie Gray: it probably goes to Rose
Patroklus Murakami: we could just presume consent in future
Rosie Gray: since it belongs to her
DeliaLake Beaumont has indicated consent to be recorded.
Anna Toussaint: its what it says on the sign
Pip Torok has indicated consent to be recorded.
Patroklus Murakami: okay np. shall i continue with my commission report?
Anna Toussaint: I see no reason ... you get the transcript out of your chat records n...
Anna Toussaint: ok, go for it
Guillaume Mistwalker: Must be going, folks.
Patroklus Murakami: we had a pretty successful meeting. i posted a transcript on the forums
Patroklus Murakami: http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3726
Patroklus Murakami: to summarise:
Guillaume Mistwalker: Goodbye, all. Valete omnes.
Patroklus Murakami: The consensus seems to be that we ought to have citizenship derive from land ownership (and possibly tier payment), the principle seems to be (at least) one plot = one citizen = one vote; that citizens could (should?) be clearly identified by ownership in the 'About Land' tab; that we need to sort out if citizenship begins on purchase or on first tier payment - both options have advantages and disadvantages, many of which are technical in nature. We need to come to an agreement on this perhaps via further discussion in the commission or here on the forums.
The consensus also seems to be to abolish group land ownership, partner citizenship and sponsor citizenship and to investigate who would be affected by this and allow for some kind of transition in time for the next set of elections.
Patroklus Murakami: next steps are to try to define more closely *when* someone becomes a citizen
Tor Karlsvalt: ATM we have one sponsor citizen
Patroklus Murakami: and find an automatic way to make that happen/be notified
Patroklus Murakami: and then any other legislation
Patroklus Murakami: i'll call another meeting in a week or so and continue the discussion on the forums in the meantime
Patroklus Murakami: done
Anna Toussaint: question:
Anna Toussaint: group land ownership as it regards citizenship or in general?
Patroklus Murakami: a bit of both
Patroklus Murakami: certainly regarding citizenship
Anna Toussaint: setting land to group has other advantages
Anna Toussaint: such as rezzing permissions and building, etc
Patroklus Murakami: and it was felt that it would make life easier if parcels were owned by citizens not groups i.e. that the owner was clear an unambiguous
Shep Titian: It should only be to do with citizenship surely
Patroklus Murakami: there's a difference between settting land to group and deeding it (the details escape me). but sudane can fill us in on that
Anna Toussaint: true
Anna Toussaint: can we deed it?
Anna Toussaint: I thought the covenants precluded that
Tor Karlsvalt: I would have to check, but I think you can.
Patroklus Murakami: we started off by discussing 'principle'. the technical means to implement that will become later
Patroklus Murakami: *come
Patroklus Murakami: and we will deal with group ownership, deeding etc
Anna Toussaint: covenants aren't technical ...
Anna Toussaint: ok
Anna Toussaint: any other questions, discussion for Pat?
Patroklus Murakami: i mean things like how hippo boxes interact with defining and accrediting citizenship etc
Callipygian Christensen: It was an excellent meeting..kudos to Pat and those attending in making it so
Anna Toussaint: gotcha
Anna Toussaint: anubody eles?
Anna Toussaint: anybody, rather?
Anna Toussaint: kk
Anna Toussaint: Trebor has added some cards to the agenda box
Anna Toussaint: and he asks me to have y'all retrieve them
Patroklus Murakami: brb
Anna Toussaint: Trebor, you're on
Trebor Warcliffe: Thank you
Trebor Warcliffe: The first thing I wanted to cover was teh contest build.
Trebor Warcliffe: The turnout has been going well
Shep Titian: Can't get said cards
Anna Toussaint: nope
Anna Toussaint: neither can I
Callipygian Christensen: nothing in there but the agenda
Trebor Warcliffe: Hold on
Anna Toussaint: treb, the permissions are not right on your cards
Anna Toussaint: make sure all perms are set
Trebor Warcliffe: hold on please, sorry
Rosie Gray: they aren't in the agenda box
Anna Toussaint: oh
Anna Toussaint: I have one where the perms aren't set
Anna Toussaint: the Report on C12 and C13 I can't read
Trebor Warcliffe: Can everyone read it?
Patroklus Murakami: got it
Trebor Warcliffe: Ok
Rosie Gray: yes I can read it... and I could the previous one
Shep Titian: Yes thanks
Anna Toussaint: I can read that one, Treb
Trebor Warcliffe: just to summarize
Anna Toussaint: thanks
Trebor Warcliffe: The winning builds will go into C12 and C13
Trebor Warcliffe: The remaining builds will be placed on various parcels in LA and CN.
Trebor Warcliffe: The report goes into great detail. So if anyone has any questions after reading the report please let me know.
Anna Toussaint: Anybody have any questions?
Trebor Warcliffe: I do have other things I want to cover, sort of a Report from teh Chancellor to get everyone up to speed.
Anna Toussaint: just a second, Treb
Patroklus Murakami: thx for the report trebor :)
Anna Toussaint: when the winning bid has been decided, and the plans drawn up, the RA will expect a motion that we approve those actions
Anna Toussaint: lf you post it on the forums,. everyone can comment on therm
Anna Toussaint: them
Trebor Warcliffe: The plan is to purchase all of them Anna
Patroklus Murakami: i think this is the chancellor's purview isn't it?
Trebor Warcliffe: for L$13,000
Patroklus Murakami: not sure the RA has a role here...
Anna Toussaint: only on public lands, Pat
Trebor Warcliffe: No actually its all land in the CDS
Trebor Warcliffe: I cant change themes
Patroklus Murakami: i agree with trebor, that's my reading of the constitution
Anna Toussaint: I was under the impressionn it said "public lands"
Anna Toussaint: perhaps I was wrong
Rosie Gray: perhaps we could check
Patroklus Murakami: "The Chancellor of CDS shall, subject to the laws of CDS, have the power:
(a) to determine the use to which any and all land in CDS shall be put;"
Anna Toussaint: ok ..,. my mistake
Patroklus Murakami: Article II, Section 2
Anna Toussaint: I misread it
Patroklus Murakami: http://portal.slcds.info/index.php/cds- ... stitution/
Anna Toussaint: and withdraw my suggestion
Trebor Warcliffe: What the RA will help me decide along with the citizens votes
Anna Toussaint: :)
Trebor Warcliffe: are which two builds we are placing on C12 adn C13
Trebor Warcliffe: I'd like to request
Trebor Warcliffe: if at all possible
Anna Toussaint: that is what I meant, Treb
Trebor Warcliffe: the contest ends next wednesday
Trebor Warcliffe: is it possible for me and the RA to meet on Thursday or Friday to finalize hte choice
Anna Toussaint: It would have to be thursday for me
Trebor Warcliffe: Id like to have the builds placed that weekend
Anna Toussaint: I won't be near the internet friday or over the weekend
Anna Toussaint: anybody else?
Trebor Warcliffe: and once everything is in place (interior) will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony
Rosie Gray: um....
Rosie Gray: I'm kind of busy on Thursday
Anna Toussaint: Rosie
Patroklus Murakami: weekdays are tough for me
Rosie Gray: unless it was in the morning
Anna Toussaint: ?
Anna Toussaint: how about you, Shep?
Patroklus Murakami: and i'm not sure you need our permission to proceed. the reason for establishing the chancellor was so things would not be held up by 'waiting for the RA' :-)
Trebor Warcliffe: I may not but I would like everyoen to be in agreement
Pip Torok agrees with Pat
Anna Toussaint: no, and I agree .... but there are some wise building heads here
Trebor Warcliffe: We're a community
Anna Toussaint: and I remember the problem witht the kirche
Anna Toussaint: technically, we didn't need a vote on that
Trebor Warcliffe: Can I move on to my next topic
Anna Toussaint: but it helped with the subsequent outcry
Anna Toussaint: not just yet
Shep Titian: Sorry been busy in IM
Anna Toussaint: sometimes, politically, it is best to have a "stamp of approval"
Shep Titian: Anysay is fine with me
Anna Toussaint: whether its needed or not

Trebor Warcliffe: ? MoCA, one of the oldest museums in SL will be opening with a new exhibit next weekend. We?ve done a little remodeling of the museum itself. We?re keeping 4 works of art from the original exhibit that has quite some historical significance. Our opening will be the 28th or 29th some of the artists will be at the opening. I believe Lilith will be producing some shirts for us to give out, one logo that keeps ringing in my head is ?Get your art on at the MoCA.? We will also have live entertainment for the opening along with a possible question and answer session for the artists in attendance.
Patroklus Murakami applauds

Trebor Warcliffe: ? http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3695
? Remind people of posting referencing permanent placement on the Destination Guide
Trebor Warcliffe: This is a link to the marketing post.
Trebor Warcliffe: It addresses gettign the CDS onto the permanent Destination Guide under Categories
Trebor Warcliffe: When you can please read and contribute to the discussion
Trebor Warcliffe: ok next topic
Patroklus Murakami: great initiative trebor
Trebor Warcliffe: Per Sudane's post in the forums I agree that we need to look beyond our borders
Trebor Warcliffe: tu pat
Trebor Warcliffe: Whatever you want to call them, embassies, info centers, etc etc. The whole idea is to network with otehr communities in SL for the benefit of both parties
Trebor Warcliffe: Here are my prewritten notes
Trebor Warcliffe: ? Currently we have two embassies in SL both very generously paid for by private citizens Bromo and Rosie New Toulouse and SL Left Unity Network
Trebor Warcliffe: I am working with Sonja and Sudane for embassies in those two communities, here is how it works
Trebor Warcliffe: ? The arrangement with Embassies is we provide a parcel for them and they provide a parcel for us. This is an effort to work together with other communities to spread the word about the CDS as well as other communities.
Trebor Warcliffe: Were not paying them tier and they're not paying us tier
Trebor Warcliffe: ? Along with the embassies we want to work together with these communities occasionally to perform co-events such as concerts, fairs, educational presentations, Hunts
? The embassies will be stocked with promotional and informational materials about the CDS. We may have a map of the sims but we won?t be attempting to sell any land in these embassies just like they won?t be selling land in their embassies in the CDS.
? We are currently working with Bromo to host an open to the public party at the CDS Embassy in New Toulouse, most likely with a deejay as entertainment.
Trebor Warcliffe: Thats all my notes
Anna Toussaint: questions?
Rosie Gray: I like the idea of exchanging embassies
Patroklus Murakami applauds
Trebor Warcliffe: Also that was my last topic to cover today.
Patroklus Murakami: it's good to reach out
Trebor Warcliffe: 12 minnutes to spare LOL
Anna Toussaint: I have one
Anna Toussaint: a question, that is
Trebor Warcliffe: yes anna
Anna Toussaint: :)
Anna Toussaint: where will the embassies be put?
Callipygian Christensen: no questions, but a big 'thats a lot of work you've been doing - thank you!'

Anna Toussaint: if there a lot of connections, I can envision a lot of land
Trebor Warcliffe: Anna right at thsi moment i dont ahve any particular parcels picked out
Trebor Warcliffe: Obviously we want to keep them small
Anna Toussaint: may I make a suggestion?
Trebor Warcliffe: and i wouldnt expect them to be large in
Trebor Warcliffe: yes you may
Anna Toussaint: why not designate a largish parcel as an embassy district?
Anna Toussaint: and then subdivide it ...
Trebor Warcliffe: Funny I htought thats what you were going to say
Trebor Warcliffe: Thats a trip

Anna Toussaint: I think she means if they break the law ...
Trebor Warcliffe: oh ok hehe
Anna Toussaint: diplomats get out of parking tickets
Callipygian Christensen: sorry Trebor - embassies and diplomats in the real world have diplomatic immunity - in the US that has translated to totally ignoring parking regulations among other things :)
Rosie Gray: and out of jail tickets

I apologize for missing this one. I was unexpectedly snowbound under a foot of snow topped by freezing rain (enough weight on deciduous trees to split them in half down the trunk). Then I lost power (and thus internet access) for five days.

Back now.

Let's keep things simple enough to be fair, substantive enough to be effective, and insightful enough to be good.
