The CDS Calendar

Post by Sudane Erato »

In light of the recent hoo-haa regarding the insufficiently announced RA meeting,

AND

In light of the fact that I am now involved in setting up "embassy" contents for the CDS, (I'm setting them up in our own New England estate, but the contents can be used anywhere...)

May I ask, and even BEG, that the appropriate authorities consider the accurate upkeep of the CDS calendar of activities of the highest importance. Indeed, I would ask that you strongly consider that any legal notice, such as notices of RA meetings and SC meetings, be REQUIRED to be posted here as a readily available source of information for the public.

The public view of the calendar is located here:
https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?s ... a/New_York

As you can see, the election dates and voter qualification dates have been posted, but there is no RA meeting there since Dec 27, and I see no SC meetings at all. In addition, there are a few educational and social events... but very few.

The essence of our democratic community lies in our events. This calendar system is easily used by any member of the public, and managing it is also easy by anyone with a Google account. We can readily manage the needed security. May I ask that we please use it... and even consider mandating its use for legal events?

It will hugely benefit all community members ability to know what is when, and it will open a invaluable window into our community life for outsiders interested in what the CDS community is all about.

Sudane,

I couldn't agree more!!! I'd like to provide the following proposal to any RA member who would like to ratify it and submit the proposal at the upcoming RA meeting on the 26th of May. I'd encourage input from any and all in finalizing the proper wording of the proposal.

CDSL 16-** CDS Calendar of Activities Act

This act places responsibility with the appropriate branch of government in the posting of any and all activities taking place in the CDS.

The Scientific Council, specifically the Dean of the SC or their appointed representative shall be responsible for posting all SC related activities to the CDS Calendar of Activities. Activities may include SC meetings, SC hearings, and all election related announcements.

The Representative Assembly, specifically the LRA or their appointed representative shall be responsible for posting all RA related activities to the CDS Calendar of Activities. Activities may include RA meetings, any special RA events.

The Executive Branch, specifically the Chancellor or his/her appointed representative shall be responsible for posting all Executive related activities to the CDS Calendar of Activities. Activities may include posting of all events and activities not covered by the other two branches of government.

Trebor Warcliffe

Let us move away from all of the "us" and "them" and turn our attention to "we."

A single prim with a one line script can enable anyone by touching to access the calendar in their browser. I'll be happy to provide that device. I'll put one on the wall of the RA chamber that anyone can copy.

@Sudane, wonderful! Great idea. I agree that a maintained calendar is important. Being able to see at a glance what is coming up is important. It's also easier for the community to keep on top of things when the accessibility is made so much more - accessible :)

Again, the calendar is here:
https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?s ... a/New_York

While the calendar is not yet mandated as the public announcement board for CDS events, I and others will try to keep it updated with all events that we're aware of. I've posted the upcoming RA meeting, Inaugural Ball, and SC meeting. Please send event info to me, Lil or Trebor and we'll be happy to get them into the calendar.

Also, if you want a calendar prim for easy access from your home, the one in the RA meeting chamber is copiable and modifiable by all.
