The first qualifying census, for qualifying to run for office, is scheduled for October 2nd, this Tuesday. To get ready for this, I dusted off my notes for taking the necessary steps, and decided to run a test census, yesterday. This would just remind people what it looked like, and, incidentally, enable people who found themselves in an unexpected state of qualification, to have a few days to remedy that.
The key issues which the census is intended to determine:
1) Only people who both own a parcel of land in their own name, AND, are current in their tier at a Hippo box, are qualified. Both conditions must be met.
2) Only the first person named by the Hippo box is qualified (the "tenant"). If there is a second person (the "partner"), that person is not qualified, but must instead have another Hippo box where they are in fact the "tenant".
3) You must be current in your tier at at least one Hippo box. Being in arrears at other Hippo boxes does not disqualify you. In addition, our system does not now distinguish whether the Hippo box at which you are current is in fact a Hippo box attached to a parcel you own. Maybe some day in the future we can achieve that linkage.
I ran a test census yesterday. Here is the result. Please note that anyone with a blank space in the Notes column (in other words, has no Notes), is according to this census qualified.
