In parallel with my "political" discussions (see the other thread) I'm going to host a few more meditation sessions, back at the Kirche (it seems it makes no difference where they are hosted anyway).
This time I'll address a different meditation technique known as "analytical meditation", which might work better for some. It uses the intellect as a tool to change one's mindset, by analysing a topic and resting on whatever conclusion one reaches. As such, it might work better for some people, specially those who might have come across some meditation techniques of the Mahayana school (e.g. like Japanese Zen or Chinese Chan) and are more familiar with that.
This will be a series of four events on a classical subject, which has four topics (not all topics are appropriate for using this technique), appropriately known as "Changing your mindset". We'll start today at 4 PM with the meditation on the preciosity of human life, which is used as an antidote against frustration, depression, or a sense of being "worthless". On Wednesday at 3 PM we'll tackle one of the most difficult subjects, but one that is actually quite easy to understand: entropy, or why everything in the whole universe tends to crumble and collapse. Far from being a "pessimistic" view, it should allow us to recognize that nothing is "fixed" and "immutable", much less our own mind, and that's why we can actually change ourselves and become more functional — this meditation topic is mostly to give us encouragement towards making that change, since it is, indeed, possible.
I'll announce the remaining two topics depending on participation — we might do them next week.
